Places to stay in Pulaski, NY

Got an opportunity to go fishing for kings in Pulaski on Salmon River on Oct 6-8. Problem is, the party already booked at a hotel and there's no room for me there. Anyone know a place a guy can crash cheap in a pitch?
Regards,
Matt

Last time we went up during the height of the season we stayed in Watertown which was about a 1/2 hour drive up 81N from Pulaski if I remember correctly.  All of the local Pulaski area hotels/motels/lodges/etc were booked solid.  Watertown turned out to be quite enjoyable after a day of combat fishing.  There are several options for inexpensive hotel rooms and a nice variety of restaurants to choose from.

I would look at Stoney's also. As far as sleeping in the car, last time I tried that I had a deputy sheriff knock on the window and tell me about vagrancy laws.

Do search on this forum for "places to stay". Many are listed... Good luck!

You can drive back down 81 and find a rest area to sleep. You're allowed to sleep there.

comfort zone in albion, just before altmar on rt. 13. it's about a mile down the road from stoneys.i own property across the street from them.  they are very nice people, and they are a bed and breakfast.  i have a pole barn built on my prop and am clearing to build three cabins.  hopefully they'll be done next year.  i may have rentals next season.  keep your eyes open.  i highly recomend comfort zone though. they own what used to be d'angelo's taxidermy.  they've done a really nice job fixxing it up.  tell them andrew from across the street sent you.good luck.

i never got the full story, but i wouldn't be surprised.  his last crying words were there were no big fish left, so no one was getting anything mounted.  i think it's just that more people are practicing catch and release. i usually put a 30 pounder or close on the bank every year myself, and i always atleast hook some 13 plus steelies each year.  2 years ago i got a 19 pound coho. there were a few years though where all the fish were smaller.  it's just hard to make money up there, nottom line.  i believe he went back to alaska.

dangelo has actually been gone for five or 6 years now.  i had him do a 12 pound coho for me 10 years ago.  he did a great job.  my father also had an 18 plus steelie done by him.  i will say, he had his way with fish mounts.

He indeed do great work, there's no arguement there.I heard from reliable sources he took a bunch of deposits at the end and skipped out on them.
You're so right,it's hard to make a go at business up there, who would ever thought C&M would close up I remember that place always being busy. There are so many that tried up there and failed, many were good people and its sad to see a failed dream go down the tubes.

the cnm was a staple for me for many years.  i remember making death runs up there and my first stop was always cnm.  i'm sure they made their money at one time.  i don't even think it's for sale. i'd hate to see some fast food chain go in there. it's prime location if you think about it.  how about little lukeys up in altmar.  when citgo went out about a year ago or so, lukey bought up that prop and is just letting it sit. now he has all the business in town at his store.  and i will say, they are a pretty handy store. how about down town pulaski since we've brought all of this up.  i think there are around 10 or 12 vacant store fronts, and evrything is for sale.  that town is just dying for some money to come in and get it going.  it's a very nice town if you think about it.  the one building that earls and mr subs is in seems to be in preliminary stages of remodeling.  they have pics of the proposed project in front of the building.  hopefully it follows through

The folks that run Little Lukeys in Altmar are great people - his wife has a great sense of humor too. You can find everything in that store from a snickers bar to electrical supplies...

I miss Earl's bar. I always used to stop for a couple of beers,a bowl of chili, and a chat with Jim. It was like stepping back into the 40's with all the old decor.

The Italian pizza place just down from Eddie's Place has very good food at reasonable prices.

I think a big mistake most places make is overcharging for what they offer. Sure they suck in the money for 3 months of Salmon season, but that don't pay the bills 12 months a year. Case in point - the Drift Boat Inn...

yeah, i heard byrne was moving from downtown.  wow, that's a good spot for them.  hey does anyone remember the place that was where the napa autoparts store is now.  i liked that place.  back in the day we used to stay at fish on and for steelhead we'd fish all through tall bridge up to ball park.  we never even got in the car, and that place where napa is now was a great warm up for some hot food and hot drink.
