Found a great new technique for cats!

I'll have to try that. I do alot of catfishing, usually use shrimp or cut bait. But always like to try new stuff to see how it works. The other day I was fishing for bass with a crankbait and caught a 5 lb. channel cat. Probably going out in the next day or two, I will let you know how it worked for me.

JACK LINKS BEEF JERKY is one of the best cat fish baits ever. It was what won the monaca tourny a couple weeks ago.  It stays on the hook no matter how far you try to cast and you can recast as many times as you want with out the bait flying off. Second choice would creek chubs smashed under foot then chicken liver/ Well in the river. Lake arthur seems to like dead or alive ALL pan fish

Another great technique everyone should know about, shinners that have sat in the sun for a few hours. There stench spreads in the water and yet there dried out for casting without it falling off hook. That also works great for crappies just put on a lil trout magic jig and bounce along bottom

I tried the jerky yesterday, side by side with cut bait, caught 3 nice cats with the cut bait, not a hit with the jerky. Must not have liked the Teriaki flavor. We also have caught cats & carp on Slim Jims,but not consistantly.  sam

ya catch flats with beef jerky.. i got you for yinz.... i got a 50# on a hot dog with my utra light rod and 6# test..LMAO!!!!!!!!

I think we did best on the hickory smoked . we were put on 3 to 4 pieces the bigger clump the better. cut bait will work but it has to be chubs or sheephead. we did not get  much on sunfish/bluegills on the river live or dead. A friend of mine was using cut trout and hammered the small cats last night. I was using the jerky in the Teriaki flavor and landed a few nothing to write home about but fair. Did land a couple monsters on the hickory flavor and one on the liver. We fished the beaver where Bradys run dumps in.

Sounds good.What flavor seems to work the best?Do you think it will work as good as kielbassi?

Moose 15-20 pounders are.But i have caught bigger .No I don't take pics of cats. I see no reason to especially river cats most are just nasty looking. they give good fight tho.Seems the channels like the liver better than the flats do.  Pat you be right with the smoke flavor. I seen a guy a few weeks ago with a ham and cut pieces of it, catching a assortment of fish on it down at Montgomery dam. wish i had some bread was kinda hungry LOL

Has anyone ever fished the conemaugh river, near saltsburgh, for catfish?  I canoed that stretch and found a couple nice looking holes above saltsburg.
