BLUE CATS

I'M GOING TO SOMERSET LAKE TONIGHT, THEY ARE CATCHING SOME REALLY NICE CHANNEL CATS AND BLUE CATS. NEVER CAUGHT OR FISHED FOR BLUES. ANY TIPS ON FISHING FOR THEM AND WHAT IS A GOOD BAIT FOR THEM?

Umm hate to burst your bubble but there are no blue cats in PA except in a few paylakes...Those are all channels in Somerset along with bullheads....And a big channel can be mistaken as a blue cat...

Leave the livers and use creek chubs and cut bait from any oily/bloody fish....

Shrimp was working well in the spring but it had to have the head and guts or it wasn't worth sh*t.

There's a place in Maryland a few miles south of the Yough, a bunch of gravel pits where an older gent gets 5lb and bigger blue cats stocked...Charges $5 to fish and you can keep 10 catfish no matter the size...

like mt man said, there are no blues in pa. now with that said doesn't mean you can't catch one once in a blue moon. cause they are in md and wv, and the mon does come up from md and the yough. so it's not impossable, but more than not if you think it's a blue, it's not just a channel. and leave the liver at the store, and go catch some bait like a real cat man!

your "game fish" is my bait.....got flathead!!

Was not a channel, not really to close in comparison. A thread from last year I believe had some other info on them and where they were found. Regardless, was a ball on a tube jig !! Good fishing !

Can't think of it off the top of my head, I'll ask my uncle what the name was with directions if I see him this week and I'll pm ya with the info...

It's only $5 to fish sometimes free if the old guy doesn't walk around to collect the money and you can catch alot of nice cats.

Could be blues in Pennsylvania.  I have a palm tree in my front yard, near Turtle Creek, that survived the winter.

I'm suprised that no one has ever hooked a blue in the Ohio River, They catch them there not far down stream. I know that they catch the in Ohio and Kentucky.
