All kinds of spots close to Mon City to fly fish.  Most of them aren't very scenic or salmonid friendly(assuming you're a trout nerd).  Yough's only 15 minutes away, try your hand at Jesus's favorite fish, the smallmouth bass, which are prolific in the Yough.

Pike Run down near little California is stocked with trout.  I've also done well on smallmouth from time to time in the lower sections.  You can park at the walking track before you get into town.  There are lots of Jap knotweed thickets along the creek, so be prepared for wading down the middle of the channel or bushwacking through the thickets.  Make sure you check yourself for ticks after going into the jungle.  Pigeon Creek runs through Mon City.  I've never fished it myself, but I've talked to people who've fished it with some degree of success.  There are many spots over on the Yough within a 15-20 minute drive of Mon City(West Newton, Cedar Creek, Smithton, et al).  There's also Mingo, which is very marginal in my experience for just about everything.  Just about all the relatively sizable creeks that dump into the Mon/Yough that aren't nasty with mine drainage will contain fish.

I agree with subby about the Yough.  You can fly fish all over the Yough.

    immson,
I live in Jefferson Borough and it takes me about 1 hour & 15 minutes to get to the Yough at Ohiopyle. Should be about the same amount of time for you also.

Pike Run below Daisy Town is Delayed Harvest Artificial Lures Only, and is a good place to fly fish for trout. You can take 481 out of Mon City and be there is about 15-20 minutes. It's the best bet in your area.
