Striped Bass

Here we go again.  I will be fishing tomorrow from my yak, 4 trips with the skunk-o, but im an optimist. Any tips on where there at, or are they pretty few and far inbetween this late in the run?  I will be drifting from brunos to the I-90 maybe more depending on current.  My life is complete when i land a striped bass from a kayak!

Only reports i have heard were way south of you, closer to Castkill. Fish were still be caught yesterday, mostly smaller schoolies. Perch is correct about the muddy water, going to take a min 3-days or more to clear up.

You may too late for this season dude ?!!? I hope you prove me wrong

I use the water by the troy dam as an indicator....if you go over either of the bridges and look towards the dam you have a good view.................if the water looks turbulent and the current strong i don't fish.

Don't give up on your quest.....the stripers hang up in Troy well into June........i would limit my drifts from the dam down to the Poesty.....then go back and do it again....you'll get one!!

ok,  looks like i will be likely headin out at 2.  It's raining, might keep some boats away.  Last time i went out ( 11 days ago) the shad were biting liek crazy. I landed double digits and all of them were very healthy and very large.  Worst case scenario hopefully i can catch some more like last time.  Those things really can pull a kayak around..

i was gettin them on a #10 sabaki rig.

Today was dissapointing.  Herring were no trouble but as predicted the current was swift, and the wind was howling pretty good.  Very hard fishing, saw a surprising amount of boats.  Maybe 7 or 8 boats and 2 or 3 ungodly large yachts one of which was going full speed throwing breakers.  Oh well, i will prolly try again when the mud settles a bit.
