Allegheny River: Walleyes, saugers, smallmouth bass and white bass were reported near the locks and dams in recent days. Some big crappies were hitting around the power plants. The Venture Outdoors Downtown TriAnglers released 21 fish off the North Shore Wednesday. Highlights included Tommy Lippert's 26-inch smallmouth buffalo, and two 13-inch smallmouth bass caught by Ken Migliorese and Morgan Hezlep. Ohio River: Russ Greshack of McKees Rocks caught a 41-inch, 291/2-pound flathead catfish on a homemade jig near Neville Island. Smallmouth bass were reported in Chartiers Creek and Montour Run, and walleyes at the mouths of those tributaries. David Hooper of Irondale, Ohio, won the May 23 Chester-Newell Catfish Tournament for a cat measuring 38 inches (next tournament June 20, 304-387-3982).
