You say fishable or high and muddy as if high and muddy is not fishable.....Extremely fishable I say......

I'd say you still probably have some mud, I haven't been there lately but its usually the last body of water to settle out.

Not too sure about the lake, i've only ever been down there twice, and both times i went to the base of the dam...

seems pretty thick there.........not much vegitation at the bottom though...decent fishing too if you do use bait...

landed a nice carp earlier today actually, but the hook came loose before i could get him up the whole wall(if you've been there, you know what i mean)...he was about 24-30 inches long.  also caught a real young walleye (13 inches), and another carp 16 inches.  There's a pretty good many species down there, i'm sure the lake does a lot better though...

nite & others...I've been to the dam twice, and both times, it was wide open and by no means fishable. How far downstream do you consider to be "fishing below the dam"? All the way to the Conemaugh, or just the next quarter mile or so? I've heard there's nice fish to be caught down in the outflow.

I was down at the outflow this morning. Started at 6:30 AM and had lots of bites on crawlers, but only managed a lowly sucker. Left around 9 AM when the hits stopped.

You'd have to use 30 lb test and be very lucky to get any decent fish up that wall.

If you cant find anything at Loyalhanna, you're doing something wrong...

ddubs, yeah, sometimes it can be real slow there at the outflow...though both times i've been there i've seen at least 4 fish on a line in the short time i stayed.

I was using nightcrawlers and a vanilla carp bait that i got at woodlands edge in delmont...

Oh, I've never fished it. Both times I stopped by, the gates were all wide open. Was just asking basically if people fished right AT the outflow when it's not a mini-typhoon down there.

Two weeks ago I had a day where I caught some smallmouth, perch, a tiny channel cat, rock bass, drum, carp, and sucker. Nothing spectacular, but lots of variety and plenty of action.
