5/12 - Some pics from today

    Ok here's the punch line - the 36" I caught was in a bad spot in the boat to unhook so I strattled it - and the next thing ya know I got a tail between the legs - dropped like a rock - talk about the power of these fish     ( all I heard was Wisdom laughing ) ... lesson learned the hard way ...

    Here today - " Up river tomorrow " heading a lil farther north next time out ( Thur -Fri ) - Got to follow the fish ( And women say we follow our ) - not true !  lol ... just looking at the sun to take the best pic ....

    Great day of fishing. Thanks again Reel. Sorry this old body couldn't take a 3rd day in a row, but two 11 plus hour days on a boat between the wakes and fighting these monsters took its toll on my already aching back. Anyways here are some totals of our two days -
    Day one:
    Herring - over 100 (just about every cast produced at least one fish)
    Shad - 1 (lost at the side of the boat)
    Runs - 0
    Stripers - The big skunk

    Day two:
    Herring - couple dozen (little harder to get)
    Runs - 12
    Dropped bait/Missed hook set - 5
    Lost - 1
    Stripers - 6
     
    Stats on above pics (top -down)
    13lbs 5oz 33in (my first ever)
    14lbs 7oz 34in
    20lbs 13oz 36in
    19lbs 7oz 36in
    20lbs 8oz 39in
    18lbs 0oz 35in

    Sorry again about missing today Reel but I'm sure we will get at least one more shot.

    Oh yeah the best weight of the day 8lbs 14oz (length unknown) my new granddaughter Taya.    
    Mom and baby doing great. WTG Amber, Daddy loves ya.

    WOW...those stripers make my northern pike look very very little.  Its great that you can fish 11 hour days, kids and school and sports bring me in by 3pm. Very nice pics thanks for sharing.  I will put my pike pics in another thread so not to look so tiny.  lol  Congrats to you guys.

    I always feel more alive when I am throwing my pole into a wet spot.
