Eastern NY Road Trip ?

I put this out on the hard water and it seemed to go well. So how about a spring fling ?
If there is any interest respond here and include a preference as to date.

So here goes...
An ADK weekend in Wilmington (Lake Placid) area. From here there are endless opportunities, stream trout, pond trout and yes I know an AWESOME Perch lake in route to a trout pond.
Camping is also wide open , state or private campgrounds, even wilderness camping areas I know. If you are not a tent camper many places have very cool cabins reasonable.
Canoes are great for everything from running the river for trout to paddling the ponds. I have so much gear nobody would be left out.
Some Dates I have open and are prime...
May 15>17
June 5>7

These are my home waters and I'll assure you great fishing...
Spin, Fly or even bobbers.

Thoughts , Comments ?

Sounds like a great time, the blackflies aren't out yet by then up there, right? I know in the catskills they start at the end of this month. But I wouldn't be able to go on the 15th. But still sounds great.

jkbugger, i think those blackflies are mainly everywhere, just some places get hit harder. No bugs yet but anyday now they be biting the lilsobs i think i'd really enjoy an adirondack trip with tuna and a few others who can appreciate  mt creeks/pond fishing. See how it goes, right now my mind is set on trying to figure out what happened to the landlocks that use to be in my backyard resi nev.,

That area , Wilmington , Placid area gets water treated and they are non existent. No-see-ums are more of an issue Venture up toward Tupper or Saranac and look out ... blood clots galore...

Just became a member a week ago to this site.  I would be in next year possibly as I only live 2 hours from Wilmington. Santa clause land ....my favorite place...lol  Son just had a lacrosse tourney at the olympic center in Lake Placid today as well.  If I had it off and saw this earlier, could have been a terrific weekend.  I am a lot like Wisdom though and set the trout lures aside come pike season. But isn't the river between Lake placid and wilmington famous for its fly fishing with trout?

I always feel more alive when I am throwing my pole into a wet spot.

sounds like a fun time. have had limited success in that area, would love to fish with a true local.  if rooftop boats are needed i have a coleman crawdad, fishing yak, and flatback canoe for lease.

Yank, May is the best month..not many bugs..air/water temps /longer days/pre spawn and spawning..just wish i had the camera for the huge LMB we released. I try to carry the camera everywhere. I can't advertise too many spots though.. these places are precious and with the internet world watching, I will keep secret most spots open to public. the resi is okay to show cause they are too huge and also special permits are required.

Just got back from 'dacks trip.  St. Regis Primitive area.  Black flies horrendous, but is to be expected this time of year.  Fishing was outstanding; in fact, going back up for four days next mid-week.

I bet those bugs were thick!

We somehow escaped any real Balc Fly issues last weekend in Essex County, but I heard they were pretty brutal the week prior.

THe bugs were present, of course, but nothing like we had last year at the same time. That area would be springtime paradise if only those lil' annoyances would mellow out a bit!

Sounds like a great trip otherwise!
