Allegheny River Float Trip May 23rd - 24th

Our canoe club is floating the Allegheny in the Emlenton Area that weekend. There will be my wife and I along with another couple in a canoe and a kayaker. We will be smallie fishing but who knows what we'll catch. Anyone who would like to float along is more than welcome to join us. We're just a group of fishermen who like to canoe the river.

Thanks Jake but we're not going until next month. It's the thought that counts. I do have a buddy who was talking about heading up there today. I have a feeling it may be a bit murky.

FYI, the river is in good shape, water is pretty clear and up just ever so slightly. I fished the Oil City area on Tue night and the smallies and small muskies were eatin good.

He hasn't yet but he lives in Columbus. That's a lot longer trip for him.

With the recent heavy rains the water has muddied up and rose slightly. The feeder creeks and streams are the culprits. Without anymore rain this week the water should clear some.

I'm leaving in about an hour, I'm stoked.  If anyone would like to tag along on  Sat, Sun. or Mon. just show up at the Emlenton Motor Inn before 8 am and we'll catch some fish.

Was wondering how you did on the bass. I was up Parker this weekend and caught a few. Nothing picture-worthy, and I barely made double-digits on numbers caught.

Saw all the bigger ones on beds guarding their eggs from the suckers. I didn't mess with those poor fellas, they had enough problems to deal with as it was.

Please tell me you weren't with the greenhorns that parked their vehicles sideways on the ramp, then couldn't find their keys to move it off the ramp. I was running late that afternoon. It was frustrating, to say the least.

I wasn't with the Greenhorns but I did float to Parker on Sunday. I saw some topless kayaking girls while I was there. Were you fishing the shallows up from the ramp on the road side of the river ? I saw 2 guys in a bass boat hitting that area pretty hard. We did pretty well under the circumstances.

I'm not very good at posting pics. The wife and I caught 2 smallies over 4lb. and we each lost a hog 3 days apart. We caught several in the 2-3lb. class and we had a blast as always.

I was fishing mostly around the Clarion mouth that day and a little below that........Topless?! First of all, you being an "Ohiyan" means you have no jurisdiction over any native species you encounter like that....meaning you should immeadiately notify a native Pennsylvanian, such as myself, any time you encounter such a thing!

    Emlenton to East Brady??
I used to float Parker to Brady every year but have not done that for about 10 years.

We do short floats. We floated from Emlenton to Parker and Mill Creek to Emlenton.
