Oil City Marina?

Went down there last nite, first for  me, Ive heard its good catfishing there later on in the year at nite.

Would you fish it with a boat or just from shore at nite?

Most guys fish it from shore that we see at work . There was a few guys on the river this week in boats , mostly small mouth . Both the marina and the shore line up and down from there get hit by the locals most nights on the weekends . It is better later in the summer . Josh , are you from the knox area ?? Good luck , Jake

Never have hit cats this erly . Late spring mid -late summer . Rockmere boat club area is also a good spot , if you can get there due to there is no public launch around . Look for deep slow water just below a set of riffles . Good luck , Jake

Josh, looks like you're anxious to fish. Your best bet right now is fishing for suckers. They are beginning to stack up for their spawning run into the creeks. Look for eddies (the Marina is a good spot) or where a creek comes into a larger body of water. Fish the slack water just inside the current line. Best bait is several redworms, kind of balled up on the hook. I use a double-dropper rig with a bottom weight. Prop up your rod and watch the tip closely as a sucker bite is light, and they quite often won't move when the take a bait, just sit there and enjoy their meal. Not a great fighter, but it sure beats cleaning the garage on a nice spring day. Or even a crappy spring day, like today!
