We have fished it a couple times with no success.Water was very dirty and cold 46 degrees last time we were up. But after reading the post on the fish consumption warnings I really think I will not be fishing there that much in the future. I made a few phone calls to get a little more info and needless to say it really opened my eyes. If you look at the warnings, they are putting crappie & walleye and such at Shenango in the same consumption level as eating a carp from the Mon river. Heres a link for those that missed it.

I have a couple young kids and would maybe like to have more so I can tell you no one in my family will be eating fish from Shenago anytime in the near future. I think I'll stick with Pymie,we have been doing way better up there this year anyway.

Unless I misread this, that only applies to the river.  That's a no brainer not to eat anything from the river.

I'm heading to the lake this evening crappie fishing.  I heard they are picking up a few off the shore.  I'll find out soon enough.

You are correct Denny.   There has been a lot of misinformation about Shenango Lake in another post due to the confusing nature of the English language.   The mouth of a river is more often than not (or always) on the downstream end of that river.  The mouth of an animals digestive system is more often than not on the upstream end of the system.  There could be some exceptions to that one out there.  The advisory is from Shenango dam downstream to the mouth.  The advisory panel would do well to insert the word downstream in advisory for more clarity.  That is all below Shenango Lake where heavy industry from Sharon and other towns have heavily polluted the Shenango River over the decades.  Someone delicately pointed this out in the other post.   Enjoy Shenango Lake, but be wary on the highway.  Statistics will show far more deaths on our highways than casualties from eating fish from Shenango Lake.

Call the army corps at 724-962-4384 for a recorded update of lake info.  The create a new one daily with lake info - temps, water levels everything.

    Hope this helps
