Pymatuning crappies
Typically, when do the crappies start to turn on in Pymatuning? When is the best time to fish for them?

Was hitting them last week pretty good, but tried monday and didn't have any luck. Lake had dropped a few degrees and a few inches. Haven't had time to get back out again since. typically do alot of dusk/night fishing and there seems to be a pretty good bite.

Heard the lake is low, like it was in Spring 3 years ago. Anyone have any input on how low it is?

Hit them pretty well on Tuesday. Shallow water weeds were the ticket. From about noon until dark steady action.

We knocked them out last weekend, in north end shallow water bays. Water did not appear to be low to us...in fact we thought the stumps we suspiciously missing cause of water height?? Anyway jigs under bobbers, and bobbers with minnies...

Ready2, The more I think about it the water level is historically always low in March. I can recall many early trips and barely being able to get the boat in the water at certain launches. Typically it comes up in April. With this early spring we are about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. I'm heading up this afternoon. Will let you know. Chug

Can you get them from the shore, have a friend that will not go out in a boat. Have never fished this lake from the bank, only from a boat and never saw many people fishing from the banks.

You can get some from shore but you will probably need to wade.

My cousin worked the open house thing they had over there the other day. He said they pulled a pile of crappie out of there that were 18-19inches! Could you imagine getting a few of those to fillet, my god, crappie that big are probably 4 meals a piece.
