7-12-07 = Clarion River --

I finally MADE time to go fishing...

left the house at 5:00am and fished until 9:00am. I mananged only one smallmouth ----

This fish put up a good fight so I did not take time to measure it or even take it out of the water...... it was pretty tired...:) :)

I'd guess about 18 inches with nice color for a Clarion River Smallmouth ???

Saw two NICE bucks on the way over..
along with a doe and one fawn..
two does with no fawns and
one fawn (all by itself) running along side the road on the way back home..

Plus a big beaver who kept me entertained at the first fishing spot since the fish were not co-operating in that regards :)

NICE MORNING !!

TIL LATER --
Doc

A lot of the Clarion River passes through some of the most beautiful country in PA.  What part were you fishing?

I've fished that area by canoe a number of times but always only got small fish.  I seem to get slightly bigger ones from Gravel Lick to Old State.

If you're going to fish there, fish the other side of the island where the Clarion comes into the Allegheny, next to the roadway.  Nice riffles and lots of bass.
