After talking with folks it seems like the best meeting spot will be the rest area off the northway(87) in Clifton Park @ 6 > 6:15am

Backin:

The only lake I ever told you about not using a power auger was Moreau Lake.  I don't know where you got Lake Lonely out of that.  Can't make Sunday gathering, as I have to officiate an all-day girl's volleyball tournament at Shen H.S..   Hope all have a great day and I'm sure Hot Tuna will put you guys right where you need to catch fish and have a fun time.

Thanks Ed:

Have a blast at the game... My co-worker hit toga today by the docks (left of launch) . slow, few dinks no flags.

while I love the empire region it gets pounded to much for my liking...

if you guys want to trek into crane or want to fish any other waters near , I am game 1/16 >23

yes you did now i remember, hey Ed hoping you a happy safe new years! I'm hoping to do alot more ice fishing this season. last year i went only a couple times because of gas prices and no ice down here. With gas below 1.50 I can roam more for the ice.

Things seem to be pretty set.
Those who are going the meeting place will be the Clifton Park rest area on the northway, try to be there 6am, we will wait around till 6:15 .
Those unsure can catch us at Crossroads Outdoors between 7 >7:15am.

Was just wondering if anyone was planning on making this an overnight trip and maybe fishing Brant or Schroon lake on monday???. I was considering it because the ice reports on Schroon lake sound great. Keeping my options open because I also love my big perch from Brant lake also. Was considering stretching it till tuesday and fishing both, but sounds like another storm brewing for tuesday night and wednesday. Need to be home and prep my trucks for plowing if needed.

rj and the gang,

just wanted to thank you guys for a great time today. not a lot of luck, but plenty of stories and good times. it was good to actually fish somewhere different for a change. it was nice to finally put faces with names. i am definitely interested in the next trip we discussed today and will call you this week about the gas auger. i am definitely bailing on a lot of the tourneys this year and doing a lot more open fishing in different areas for a change. finally, i gotta gives props to backin79, not only did you trek 3.5 hours from jersey, but you bought a s**t load of food and a great attitude my friend. can't wait to get out there again and knock 'em dead this time.

First off I would like to thank all the folks who came to share good times, food and new friendships on the ice. 79, you get my hero vote. Yes he made the hike of 3+ hrs to come and hang out with us crazy NY nuts. and with that he brought some AWESOME food, Thanks bro and hope to fish much more together. NO more ball busting on the internet.

The weather could not have been better, blue bird skies, no wind. The Fishing, well thats fishing as they say.. I think the total for the day was somewhere around 4 pike, 1 pickerel, 4 perch, 1 walleye.

I don't have many photos but it was a BLAST, When & Where next ???????

Hey just got back, I exited woodstock, over the mt to spend the night at bros.. had leftover sausage sanwichs! got my lazer and sled help bro do a few house upkeeps..around 1pm  heading back to nj I exited rt 17  passed white lk. it was locked up.. went to a nearby lk. state park , lazered a half dozen holes over 4 " thick ice , I had yet a half dozen shiners and would you know they went within an hr. using just two tipups! guess it was 3:30pm sun setting , the perch were hitting fast. Everything I caught was small, one small pickerel too, I was fishing 30' water right off the bottom! the 1/32 chrome kastmaster worked the best. left there 1/2 after sunset..Had a great time, hoping it stays ice for this weekend! Thanks again for the fun time and your welcome steve! RJ , nice ADK pics! haha

Ed, look forward to trying saratoga this year if I can find the time and if the weather is right!. I have a feeling we are going to have a normal winter and long ice. Who said loon?.. that was a back woods adk lake!  anyway, tuna knows the spot.. Hey tuna I jimmy rigged that handle with 10" gauge copper and it is as good as new buddy!  would like to get my friend up there at least once this season if all goes well. Understandably,, if the freeze sticks down here, beyond a doubt we are going to try the ponds here that haven't been icefished in years. Good luck to all and a happy 09 on ice!

Hello Guys,

Ummm...  I had never noticed that there was an Ice Fishing Section of this forum...  Oops...

Anyway- great hanging out with you guys again this weekend.  BackIn, it was great to meet you...

Hopefully we can get the whole crew together next month for some fun over at my place.  The ice storms of December left me with PLENTY of downed trees to burn...

I've got some pics of the Sunday outing.  Nothing too grand, but I will post them soon when I have the time.

I am up in New Hampshire right now, and won't be around my camera until Thursday night...

Then off to the Everglades for the weekend...  WOO HOO!!!

Crazy right?  Ice fishing for pike one weekend, and fly fishing for tarpon the next...  Quite a week!
