Sled Project

Well we took the day off from hunting. Yesterday my son killed another doe( if you don't kill doe than you are not doing proper management) and I watched a very large spike horn walk by, probably should have killed it , it was a large 2 & 1/2 year old with no antler growth. Oh well tomorrow is another day in the woods.

While having a ton of help from sam adams I scrapped the first idea and was able to almost finish the sled today.
It is sized to my clam 2000 shanty and I may end up putting side boards on it . The thing is solid as a rock and very light weight. I plan on making a tow bar for the atv or can also pull by hand with a rope.
All in all I may have $20.00 invested, I was going to use 1/4" plywood for the bed but found this old plastic play house piece in the garage (never throw anything away, recycle!! )

That should do the trick ! Nice

One of my buddies did something similar years back with old skis, only problem was he didn't have it raised up enough (only a few inches) and it turned into a snow plow !!

But yours looks to be plenty high enough.

i been using the same old  thick plastic tobogan, i bungy a couple milk crates, only time i got to lift it is over a road snow bank,  can fit a power or hand auger using bungies to crates  holding down all my gear less the 30pack..works great over slush.

I did not see much of anything on sale. I have and used a Shappell Jet Sled for years. They are very good sleds except for loading them down through heavy snow. The reason I built my own sled was to transport my Clam 2000 shanty and enough gear to handle clients. It should pull well by hand and when needed with the atv.
For the average fishermen a jet sled will be the only thing needed but If you plan on hauling a shanty & plenty of gear , build a beast.

yeah tuna, i suppose you're right.. i just noticed cabelas xmas sale 50x26" but with extra shipping it ain't much a sale.. my one man sled is a kid sled but the heavy duty long narrow tabogan..enough for two rectangle milk crates and small 12 pak playmate cooler.. I can bungy the auger over the crates once on the lake.  hey i want to head up there this season.
