Young boy's first chrome

Made the trip from Pittsburgh on 11-9-2008,  My 8 yr old son landed his first steelie thanks to a local fella named Sean.  As soon as my son and I walked up Sean hooked one and offered to let my young son bring it in.  If you are out there Sean, Thank you.  7.93 lbs of fresh chrome has got my boy as hooked as I am!!!  Tight lines.

Thats great PB im sure he loved it. BUT technically its not his first. By this i mean he needs to hook up all by him self and land it by himself. Besides im sure he will in due time that one just got the blood a boil 'in .
I personally think its the hook up thats the most exciting and the fight is just the after math of getting one to take your offering. My thoughts nothing more. Good fishing to you and your son.

    pbf,
I'm sure you'll find plenty of guys on the creek willing to hand a hooked fish to a kid. I do it all the time. I feel like that is one of the BEST ways to get kids interested. I have found that a youngster is more apt to watch a float when he already knows the size of the prize.......thanks to the nice guy with the funny hat  that handed him the pole last time. Good for him.....and you.

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...
    I choose Little Cleos

I'm the best looking smartest snagging poacher alive...

I let a little guy, about 6, land a nice 9 lb. buck at 12 mile, on a flyrod. I got the same feeling as when I used to tutor first graders in reading. I enjoyed it more than he did, probably. In 5 minutes the young guy learned how to use the drag, how to put pressure on the fish, and release the fish properly. The father thanked me profusely, but truth is, I enjoyed it more
than if I had landed the fish myself.

Next big run, get him up, and he'll hook up and land his own. One step at a time.

Pay to attention to the killjoy.

FMP - The part that made me proudest was when I rigged up a rod for him to get him back on the fish, he handed it back and said I want you to catch one, dad.
