possible world record buck

Someone harvested the buck that was captured on film this summer, which was believed to have a chance at being the #1 typical whitetail in the world!!

Last archery i'll never forget i had a huge monster 13 pt super high tines and at least 23 -24 inches wide 30 yards in front of me in the saplings never could get a shot. He was just feeding away at the white oaks first week of archery on a Tuesday evening hunt. If i would have listened to my gut feeling i would have been in the other tree that i was going to go too first i would have been 15 yards from the monster with all the shooting room i needed he walked right down the middle of the logging road i was 40 yards up on the hill side looking down at him shaking. I tired grunting some weezes and some soft bleats but his belly got the best of him . I still kick myself in the balls for that one. I hunted that deer everyday morning and evening never seen him again like a ghost. And no one shot him in rife or flintlock either. Who knows.

Gooseman I wouldn't take the shot even though i wanted to but guess thats a draw back when shooting spitfires 100's. I had 4 good areas that where good shooting lanes. But big boy decided not to come the way that i thought i would see deer. And believe me when i say their are hundreds of saplings trust me their is. No way i would have got a head and shaft through that. I have been Pretty lucky i started archery hunting when i was 15 and i am now 35 years old. And i have only ever wounded 3 deer when i use too shoot the old bear razor heads.   But i hate to wounded anything so i practice as much as i can 3-d as much as i can gets me in shape for the up coming archery season. I am very confident in shooting 50 yards no problem but i would never shoot a animal that distance. 35 YARDS is my limit when shooting at deer to much can go wrong in a mere second.

Wow,  I leaned something from that picture that I never knew.  The Hanson buck was shot with a Model 88 Winchester.  I happen to have two of them one in 243 and one in 308, by far one of the most accurate lever actions ever made.

Deer is being mounted. The above pic is after the deer was caped, hide is probably already on the way to the tannery. If I'd kill one that size there's no way I'd leave the skull and horns with the taxidermist, it would be under lock and key until the 60 days had past.

Have none of you ever skinned a furbearer or seen a taxidermist at work? That's what they look like when the hide is removed properly. They only use part of the skull in the actual mounting process.
