the only fish you will find a kipers is downstream of the horses, into the woods.  There will be a few held up down there and lower, towards the next bridge.  that is your only real stretch of stream left to fish that will have anything.

I pulled an 18" brownie out of the conemaugh last week.  Thats the last trout I have gotten.

imo that's the best stretch of tubmill... also love the no fishing on sunday's rule.

trashcan man(i hope you don't mind me calling you this), did you see the size of the cooking grate that was in the deep hole upstream from there before the bridge? We cooked a nice brownie on it, was great.  I always keep a knife, a pill container of mixed spice, and some folded tin foil for the occasion in the chest pack.

I missed the grate, and the nickname doesnt bother me at all.

I pulled a monster rock bass out today... 12 long,  11" girth,  over 1 pound.  I didn't realize that it would have been a citation fish or I would have gotten exact measurments for catch and release.

I can't blame TTC for cutting off the stockings.  A typical case of too many non members hammering the creek after a club stocking and keeping everything they catch.  If you want to find a non stocked stream off the beatin' path or get excited about one trout rising after your home made fly, that's one thing.  But, I don't care how many projects you do on a stream or how many a club or state stocks, the trout will get cleaned out.  Word gets around and a can of corn or two will put to rest this bizarre fantasy of catch and release people that trout will hold over and be catchable all the time.  I took the kids to a couple of annouced trout stockings this year from the state and on one occasion the suck ups with the pick up trucks who have the tanks in the beds of their trucks were acting like they didn't know where they were taking the fish.  I mean, come on, you're driving the truck but you don't know where you're going?  On the other occasion all the suck ups showed up with floaters and took the trout out of sight.  All these trout were catchable that evening and the next day, but why annouce times and then try to hide them.  I may have gotten a little of the topic, but a load of pelletheads can make grown and or old men act very strange.

how dare you bring up the name Climax on these chat boards?   Havent you seen deliverance???  You hear banjos playing when you pass by that "town".

There are more rusted vehicles in the weeds than houses there, so I don't know if it actually qualifies as a town instead of a junkyard with inhabitants. haha

all 3 types of bass (large, smallmouth, rock),  yellow perch, bullhead catfish, and the occasional bluegill.

PM me if you want more specific info on sizes, baits and locations (shore and boat).

havent floated the river yet.  Havent had any weekends free since early may, but I have been paddling out a bit in the kayak and spending most of my time fishing the tailwaters of the conemaugh river dam.

My weekends are now free for the rest of the summer, so I want to get a float scheduled.

You been fishing it at all and are you interested in floating it with me?

RE: Tubmill Trout Club Stream Improvement Effort 2009/09/24 21:59:26 (permalink)
Tubmill Trout Club has had a tremendous outpour of help from the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. To this point close to $1,000,000.00 of engineering and improvement has gone into this watershed. Township roads that lend much silt to Hendricks and Tubmill have been engineered with improvements designed to shed runoff water correctly. Also, pasture fencing direct cattle to designated crossing areas have been erected on head waters of Hendricks Run and it's trib. Hipocrite Creek. Two sections of stream have been worked to date and await high water to promote works from these constructed devices. I have received word that two more sections will be slated for 2010. One above Beauforts Bridge upstream to Hirsch's Bridge. The other may be bank erosion control at Midget camp. This is great! Large donations have been received from few very generous people funding this innitiative thus far. Fantastic, I wish I knew who to thank.
