Confirmation of humpys in cricks

Went to 16 mile this afternoon to check on water conditions. 16 mile was good and will be great for the weekend. While i was there i saw an oldtimmer fishing the waterfall. He had hooked into a humpy! There here but how many will we see caught this year.I was going to help him land the pink salmon when he tried to pull it in close to get it his line had broke. That was such a shame i would have loved to got a picture of him and the fish. They are so rare around here and proof would have been nice. Take this post as you wish but im telling the truth. You may be forunate enough to get one.

I'm not sure but I think they make one run and there done, unlike steel that make runs at different times through the winter.

I could be wrong, but I would guess that these rarer species of salmon probably attached themselves in small numbers to the migrating schools of steelhead trout and then end up in the creeks along with the steelhead, but the majority that exist in the lake probably school with their own kind and run the tributaries of their birth or where they were actually planted.  As for one and done, I believe the other salmon species do give up the ghost after spawning, but that isn't what you meant, probably, anyhow.

I can't imagine why anyone would have reason not to believe you.  Sounds reasonable...

Pink salmon (Humpback Salmon) have a white mouth with black gums. If you catch one & aren't sure what it is, take a look at the mouth.

Remember they are few in number and are not stocked in Lake Erie by any State or Provence. Most are wild fish.
