My greatest catch ever on a fly!

Caught my first permit ever on a fly last Wednesday, in Boca Paila, Mexico, just North of Ascension Bay. Managed to "Grand Slam" too (catch a permit, a bonefish, and a tarpon all in the same day) but the permit was the coolest. Hadn't been on the boards in awhile, thought that I'd share. GOing to Brazil for peacocks in Feb. If anyone's interested, just drop me an e-mail! Tight lines.

Dan

Congrats Daniel.  You always manage to catch a fish far better looking than yourself.  I'm sure you have many more bizarre creatures to come.  I hope to see some peacock pics.

Quacker -- his one and only gets lonely when he goes fishing all the time, so someone else REALLY gets to have the fun.

Doing well. Finally caught my first trout of the season today (believe it or not, I was working...) So far this year, sailfish, roosterfish, bones, tarpon, permit, and even hooked a marlin, but no trout (until today!)

Caught a HUGE smallmouth at Arthur. Below is a pic. Biggest I've ever caught, heck, it's the biggest I've ever seen around here.

Grag- Glad to hear that Tom used the fly, but the real question is, did it work? A few guys I know did fairly well in West last week. Sounds like the tarpon are there, but the weather has really blown (no pun intended.)

Chris- Call me sometime, we'll get out.

Jon- My next kid better not look like you! I'll talk to you tomorrow; are you still thinking about coming out on Sunday?

Here's the smallie (Hurd, eat your heart out!) Over 24", fat, pre-spawn.

    Dan,

    Great Permit!!!

Everytime I thing I can give up my quest for catching a Permit, one shows up in a photo like yours and I end up making plans again.

Can you explain why we want to chase after a bluegill on steroids?
