Opsman that's going to be super nice when the renovations are complete and I'll bet Linesville is gonna be a busy place, especially with a new ramp and dredging of the area.

Brock I sure can't get comfortable fishing shoulder-to-shoulder be it, standing on the bank or, waist deep in the water.  After watching the causeway at Linesville I'll guarantee I'll find places elsewhere before playing 'bumper boat" trying to catch Walleye.

Speaking of standing waist deep in water, that never worked for me because the rest of the line would be waist deep too, but standing four feet in front of me.

Tight lines, hope to meet yinz on the water.

Yeah unfortunately with progress comes people. I would rather have put up with motoring out of the launch area with the motor trimmed up then face the zoo that's coming Recent years the launch has become overrun with bass tourneys since bass masters started touting the lake in their "top 100"! I try to only hit it on the weekdays now

the beaver was really something else I remember fishing
below the dam with my uncle when he left his mt coke
can, the next day we were back up and the fish were
not hitting at all, so my uncle went ahead and picked
all the cans and trash etc. that was laying around and placed it
on a pile where it could be picked up , then warren beaver
showed up and thanked my uncle for picking all the litter
people had tossed and then handed him a fine for leaving
his can overnite

I feel your pain Opsman, no doubt, the area will be very popular in the coming years.

As for the bass fishing competitions, well, if we (through fishing/boating fees) help build it, they will come.

Lucky the organizers got their wishes with this project at Pymie 'cause once Arway gets his personal project (SOS) rolling, ain't nobody gonna see our money being spent for any other projects, including a big reduction (already taking place) with the trout program(s).

hoopie2 sounds exactly like the Beaver. Back  in the late 70's he watched me and another guy fish from 10pm till 4 am. before he left. That's 6 hours,I had roped  3 small 15.5 males and thrown back  several short  males At 4:05 I caught 29.75 female that went over 10 lb but I did not weigh her. He would be right up my a _ _ every time I hooked a fish. He once examined a fish on my stringer saying it was missing some scales and he suggested that I might have snagged it.lol He was a piece  of work.lol

Thanks Roy, it was good. Rich, I really like light breading or corn meal style coating. I'm not one for the batter dips , they just seem too greasy. I even like plain baked fish with a little seasoning. Got lucky with a couple fresh Walleye for today. I bought that Shore Lunch just haven't cracked open the box.....soon.

Big Tuna, you got some good stories and tips up on Pymatuning, sounds like you put some serious fishing time in over the years. I fished Linesville fairly steady in the 70's but gave up on Pymy on into the 80's & 90's. Started fishing the Great Lakes and local fishing kind of faded away. Now I mix it up about 80% local , 20% North.

Put a second Eye in the boat but, it was even smaller.  Ditzled around in 28 FOW the entire time (5 hrs.) bouncing Sonars on the bottom.

Bit chilly on the lake with the air temperature hovering at 40 degrees along with a light wind out of the NE.

Water temperature at Jamestown launch is 40.5 degrees, up 3 degrees from Tuesdays reading and if the forecast for tomorrow holds true, I wouldn't be surprised to see the surface temperatures approaching 45.

Good chance parking at Jamestown launch may be at a premium come tomorrow afternoon.

See yinz there!!

Thanks Sam, I think you are smart sticking with your boat.  Nicer days are coming and I know you will want to get her on the water.  You'll look good flying around Shenango blaring your radio and running your big motor. (lol)

Docks will be going in at Shenango soon buddy, fish will be hitting better and it will all make for a much funner day.  Plus, I should have a better idea of what the hell I'm doing with the new sonar/GPS.  Geez that thing is really neat, I finally figured out....... how to turn it on!!

The wife cooked up a mess of crappie and gills from my short ice season, they where quite tasty. She made 1/2 hot Cajun and 1/2 in Italian 4 C's bread crumbs, hand cut French fries, homemade onion rings, and homemade coleslaw. I must have done something right,to get a meal like that, she been slacking on the fish fries this winter.BTDT , I'm know expert but you might try shallow warmer water, I did well on the sand bars dragging 1/8 oz leadheads with chartreuse 3-4 inch tails. Also it's about time to throw black and silver Raps of the gravel points in the low light times. That sand bar down from Wilson was my favorite early spot. Captain Hook, I did the same as you Pymy was my go to lake, then we graduated to the big ponds Erie on Ontario. Big water big fish. Now I'm 63 big fish don't seem to interest me, I'll take a delicious mess of big gills or slab crappie or jumbo perch. Good fishing, with all the rain coming next week the spillway will be on fire. Going to fish all night one day next week there but it will be out of the boat, not the wall. Any slab action yet bridge 20?

Nice start to the wading season there captain. After fighting a head cold most of the week I finally felt good enough to say hell with it, and loaded up the waders. Hit a point that I started fishing last year and after 45min of pitching the swimbait finally managed to hook up with a healthy 20" eye.

Another 45min of casting produced no more bites. Felt great to get out. I do alot of boat fishing, but early wading is by far my favorite time to be out. Nothing quite like standing stomach deep in 40° water watching all the eagles and waterfowl on pymy do their thing, and sometimes the fish even cooperate. Good luck everyone!

Good one Crappie, I'm with you on the wading style fishing, got to love those quit calm mornings and evenings. I'll be hitting those shorelines on and off till around May. I'll have the boat out also, but there's something special about tossing those lures from shore. Must be those old  flashbacks from younger days catching fish.

Big Tuna sounds like one great meal to me ! I don't hit the Great Lakes as much either kind of got so crowded that the fun wore out. Got spoiled when half the people didn't even realize what was going on years ago. I still sneak up to the creeks during the weekdays once in awhile and fish the more remote areas ( if that's possible ) to wet a line. I'm right there with you on the age bracket and staying closer to home and fishing the local scene works fine for me too !

BTDT, I agree with Big T...  I think those Walleye are running shallow with spawning season here some good shallow shoals should hold fish early season.

Great post old dog. The simplicity of it and being out enjoying nature is what it's all about. Got out early this am for a few. Kept a mixed bag of 9 nice panfish. Little slow, but got to see a beautiful foggy sunrise and 2 mature eagles buzzing around. I'll be out searching for Walter again tomorrow evening. Wading in the rain is another favorite pastime.

BTD...Saw 1 redwing blackbird yesterday. There has been 1 hardy robin in the apple tree since Feb. 1, a pair of pileated woodpeckers also and the bluebirds are scoping out the nest box in the yard too. Those signs said time to join the circus flotilla in a well known vertical jigging spot. We usually visit there 2 times a year to get some walleyes in the freezer to carry us in eats til the opener in May. The score was 6 walleyes from 8pm until 2 am. Size ranged from 15 1/2 to 17 1/2". Water temp on surface was 46 and decreased to 43 when we left The lake was like glass...

I hit various areas of Pymy on Sunday morning form land (in the rain !). Started at the causeway, worked crawlers and cranks for about an hour with no luck. Moved over to Wilsons and picked up a few decent perch, then went to the spillway and fished for about 2 hours. The "wall-nuts" were lined up pretty thick in the channel, so I stayed to myself off to the NE side of everyone else. I picked up an additional few perch.

It was nice to get out, and even nicer to pick up a few perch on crawlers. Seemed a bit early to get much action on crawlers, but I didn't want to waste time picking up minnows.
