The 3-6 inches of snow they forecasted turned out to be a couple flurries. Now I'm starting to get ready for my Easter visit to the daughter and some Steely fishing,so far the reports have been good and I can't wait to hear the drag scream!

Jack ,
I hope you have a good time with family and friends as well as screaming drag from steelhead .
It seems things are going by the wayside here , maybe not enough excitement or controversy .
I will always be chasing fish and try to share what I can , when I can with the friends I have gained here . If others chose not to , well that's their business .
The herring are starting now and the linesiders will be here shortly .

Pics ? , with my busy schedule right now trying to finish projects while starting others and put time in on the water , I spend very little time at my home computer to upload pictures .
Hope all is well with everyone

Btdt . Heavy work week and now the 3 day weekend thanks to the good Friday
I will take the 3 days to get more work done in preparation for the big splash . Sometimes being in a union relationship has its benefits although it comes at a cost

I hear ya on the heavy work week HT, it's seems like feast or famine and dang if the feast part doesn't hit right when we need to be gettin' on the water. LOL    This weekend looking good for me also and I hope to get out on my little ponds to do some fishing............. and catching too!

Enjoy your time, I'm sure you deserve this coming weekend, catch a bunch and don't forget those pictures.  It's always nice to see  what's happening in other parts of the country.

Tight lines and Happy Easter.

Happy Easter to all, and tight lines if you get out for the opener.  There is a chance in the Finger Lakes, some new fish coming in when they shocked yesterday, as well as the droppies.

So I just got back from a cruise and am ready to get the boat out. I learned to never take a cruise from NJ in March. It snowed the first two nights on the boat and the wind was horrible the last two back. Overall it was another pretty good experience on close to the biggest boat in the world. Lobster every night and as much as you wanted. Food was good company was good and the shows were good. Even won a trivia contest. It's cool and windy here as well as raining. I want to try one day this week.............

I've had some time to get work done around the property and have had to cut my days short due to the wind. I was trying to plant pear trees yesterday and called it quits after only two trees because I got tired of chasing my hat, my gloves, soil bags, fertilizer bags, anti deer cages, landscape fabric, tree wrap, and everything else that wasn't secured, including buckets.

I'll take another shot at it today. I have two more pears, four peach, and ten apple to go.

Hey Clint , seems you had fun . Where did you float to ? We went on a cruise to nowhere with hot tuna once for 4 days outta NYC .I'm sure yours was much different . Wife throws a cruise out every now and then but I didn't enjoy being stranded on a ship with a thousand strangers and only 150 were with the band.

Yea weather was windy but it was a Tuesday so I wasn't feeling "under " the weather and got a bunch of thing done today in preparation for stripers next weekend.
Be well guys

We went to port Canaveral (florida), Nassau, Bahamas and a private island. There were roughly 6000pople on this boat with workers so yes it is crowded, but there was always good eats and something to do. Weather was great today, but this weekend it turns around.  Gonna try the river tomorrow after work rain or not.

That's cool Clint , good luck tomorrow. Striper season opens here Friday 4-1 and we will be scouting on Saturday. Going to try and net some bait ( herring) tomorrow but in reality, we are 2 weeks away .
My son ( Rob S ) is going for trout opener as its his day off.
I miss those days of opening day .
Good luck to all that venture out

Re:Weather thread 2016/03/31 07:38:25 (permalink)
Just sitting here at the 'puter' with my buddy 'joe' watching the weather radar.  Sure enough the rains cometh and according to the report, bringing plenty of wind with it.

Sun is just breaking the tree tops  lighting the empty pasture across the road.  Wind is subtle out of the south yet strong enough to keep my flag waving over the front yard.

The sky is a light gray spotted with darker shades of clouds, setting their sails to the north.

Temperatures, in my little piece of Penn's Woods, are expected to drop  several degrees each day til reaching the upper thirties for a high on Tuesday then, rebound back to the mid fifties on Wednesday.

Wind chimes on the porch are beginning to sing, the flag is a bit brisker in her wave and, the now leafless branches of a pin-oak are, shaking just outside the front window.

I guess you could say March will be going out, or maybe April is coming in, like a lion.

Just got back from the carib for my annual island hopping -love it down there- great weather too.
Hey, was at a dock in St Marteen and there were 3 to 4 foot Tarpon everywhere. Folks were throwing chunks of bread at them and they were hitting them readily.

Super r3, glad your island hopping went well and you had exceptional weather.  Did ya bring some of that back with ya, by chance??

We listened to thunder just as the snow machine began firing up about 7:30 PM yesterday, delivering some wet heavy snow then just as fast as it started, everything stopped, except for the stupid wind.  Having seen the warnings posted, I stowed my flag for safe keeping and darn glad I did.  The way the wind was ripping most of the night, I expected to see the flag pole looking like a pretzel this morning.

Some snow and thunder
 Followed by this.
Then finding this on April 3!!

I want to go to the Caribbean!!!!!!

Think Spring and tight lines to all!!

We got 6 plus inches, put it is melting as the ground is warmish. Wind is howling and it is nasty. I got the barn mucked out and I am spent. Yesterday my pig got out and it was an adventure getting him back in. I cannot believe the damage to the lawn in just a half hour.

We got 5" plus overnight and expect to get more tonight.  The wind is gusting to 50-60 mph and sends a chill right to the bone.  Big change from fishing on Friday without a jacket.  Even had to shed my thermal turtleneck because it was too warm.  LOL  Such is the weather in April in the northeast.

Grass is green again already here . Probably gonna make it grow like crazy now :(
Can I borrow your pig for an hr Clint ?
Huge stride in the man cave this weekend, indoor - lighted shooting trap , all ice gear and hunting storage in place and now working on moving my fishing rods and gear as well as hanging my vintage 1960's posters .
Kinda glad the weather was chitty this weekend otherwise I would have been out and about on the water somewhere and this never would have got done .
Pretty amazing how much stuff accumulated in a 16 x 60' space
