Minnow's

I'm planning on going to twin lakes tomorrow, from 10 am until 2 pm. I was thinking about taking minnows with me. The question I have is what is the best way to put them on the hook. I've heared that some go thru the upper lip. I've heared some go thru the dorsil fin. And last but least I've seen guys thread them.

Is It just ones own prefference?

I think it is just preference.
Through my experiences, I have found that hooking down through the upper lip works great for me. They seem to last longer also.

It depends on how I'm fishing them. For the most part if fishing a stream they get hooked through the lips. Using a bobber under the dorsil fin. There will be times that I'll hook them through the lips using a bobber.

I went yesterday like I said I would. It was very windy on the lake so top fishing wasn't an option. I asked a guy if he caught anything. He said just a buzz from the beer. I threw out my first line with a minnow, hooked from the upper lip down. Not more then 40 seconds later I had a hit. It was a lg mouth bass. Then about 45 min later I caught a larger bass on a worm. and then I caught a very small bass later on. However a larger bass of nice sizewas chasing that. When the bigger bass saw me he turned away. So 5 bass in 2 hrs not too shaby. No as far as getting any trout my target fish, no such luck!

I've always hooked them in the lips, they seem to last longer than in the back.  I have a buddy that threads them, but you wouldn't want to thread one and then throw it out on a bobber or even just to sit.
