ohio river at montour run

Fished the river for about an hour and 1/2 after work on friday using shiners picked up 2 small walleyes. River is still up, not much exposed dry land as yet ; water is murky but not muddy ,a gentleman told me th temp was about 58 degrees (felt colder) i was glad i used the neoprenes. This gentleman also said he had picked up a 14 inch smallmouth in the creek under the railroad trestle and saw some others. Another guy bank fishing just upstream from the creek didn't appear to catch anything. Will try the mouth of Big Swickley creek on Sunday.

Ed - I fished it at sunrise today with shiners.  Got a foot long sauger and a buch just hanging on.  I think they're sluggish from it still being cold.  Rises all around me.  I did hook into an ENORMOUS fish that bent the pole and after a minute broke the 8 lb test line, even with the drag set right.  He ran the line out and came to the surface once - might have been a huge cat.  Lon probably would have got it in.  I may see you a Big Sewickley.

Certainly could have been.  I'll never know.
