paylake carp fishing.

Are the carp in the paylakes(Seghi's, Paridise) starting to hit well?
I know I fished Seghis for trout in May and the carp fisherman weren't
doing real well.

    skyeagle,

Seghi's has five ponds main carp, two with carp and cats, one with trout, another with bass. What works for me is overlay, underlay, and pickup method but use what your confident with.

Those pay lake places have daily tournaments, cash to enter, cash to the winners.  The paylake scene is quite different.  I've never understood the attraction, but I'm sure alot of people don' tunderstand the attraction of smallmouth fishing with flies, so....

The carp contests really aren't gambling, for the most part.  They are competitions like any other kinda fishing tourneys where ya pay to compete.  There's a good bit of money to be won at  PA paylake carp contests.  Tho, nothing like what happens at the NC carp paylakes down south----they're the big leagues, where thousands of dollars change hands daily-----big $$$ down there.  These are nothing new either----these contest have been going on for decades.

If ya want a better idea of what the carp competitions are all about at the PA paylakes, check out this link:

Well even carp fishing in general is underrated. Lots of fun big fish all the time and a fun fight. I fish for all species of fish. I try to keep a pretty open mind about any species of fish since they all posess a certain quality that makes each one fun. Another thing is carp aren't as easy to catch as you would think or at least the big ones anyhow. You would be surprised at how similiar carp and bass fishing are with scents, color choices and presentations to catch them.

For anyone interested, there is a forum that's been around for a few years that's dedicated mostly to paylake carp fishing.  Now it's based in NC, but they have a section on there for the PA paylakes.  Check it out here:
    http://www.southernpaylaker.com/

The last two years, this forum has organized a multi-state (NC,IN,PA,OH) tourney trail at the carp paylakes.  There's been two or three qualifying events in PA the last two years (at Seghi's and 84 Lakes).  The catchers of the 5 biggest carp at each qualifying event qualify for the World Paylake Championship (WPC) that has been held at a NC paylake come October.  More details can be found on the Southern Paylaker forum.
