Last week we brought in an 18" and a 19 " smallie.

Saturday I caught maybe a dozen in the 12-16" range.  Saw a few big ones, but not sure what the norm is as this is my first year attempting to fish the bay.

I imagine the heat will bring an end to the action very shortly.

I haven't been out since 5-26, but we caught several smallies on the flat between Perry's Landing and the Erie Yacht Club in 7-10 FOW.  One weighed a shade under 4 lbs, the rest were average sized.  Most of the smallmouth I've caught in the bay were on crankbaits.  Slay is right about the heat, once the water gets warm, the smallmouth in the bay get pretty scarce.  I've also caught a few trolling crankbaits along the edge of the channel.

Smallies carry a calander with them and know when bass season starts.
Only the brave ones stick around. All the others are gone!
