Hudson Topwater Activity

I understand the Striper run is over, so I am curious as to what the fish that are continually breaking the surface  on the Hudson are .  I work in Green Island right by the dam, and every morning when I get to work, there are loads of fish breaking the surface.  It continues on throughout the day, but the most activity is early in the morning.  What species are they?  And are they, or whatever is chasing them to the surface worth targeting?  Again, I'm a transplanted downstater and not familiar with the river.  Any info is greatly appreciated.

Most probably Carp .... Carp are primarily bottom feeders, they eat food by sucking in what is in front of them, whilst doing this both food particles and large quantities of bottom debris passes through their gills, the sediment particles from the lake get stuck on the gills and interfere with the flow of water for respiration. Carp sense this clog up and jumping is a method of flushing / cleaning the gills to remove the accumulated debris.
