    nbobich,

Mingo holds plenty of trout year round.  Until the middle of summer when it gets hot, there are enough fish inside the park every day to catch a limit and then some.  Walk a little bit and fish cover, not to fish you can see and you'll be fine.

Can't help you on Peters.  Only fished it once, and that was waiting to pick up my fiance at work at the govt. sight.  In 20 minutes I caught two nice browns on worms that I found along the stream and left.

    Thanks,
    rick

No offense but ... it doesn't hold fish in the summer ... it gets fished out quick. If you find a fish or two in the summer you're very lucky ... that's a fact.

    smfine,

Mingo Creek holds fish all year round.  When I lived in New Eagle, I would fish it in the late fall and middle of winter and catch fish.  Not huge numbers like now when you can catch 20 in an evening, but 5-10 fish in an afternoon of fishing.  Summer is easy to find fish, though with the low water they are spooky.  The park suffers from low water, but there are plenty of places where fish hold year round.  Mingo was my second home waters (Pigeon Creek my first) .  Yes, a lot of fish are taken out of the creek this time of year.  But after the second inseason stocking (there used to be 3 at one time) not a lot of guys bother with the creek.

    transam,

Mingo starts at the Mon River just upstream of Mitchel power plant.  There is a big sand bar in the river there.  It follow Rt 88 towards finleyville for about 3 miles.  Where the new highway bridge crosses 88, mingo makes a quick left and right turn and goes back towards eighty-four/venetia.  Mingo park starts about a mile and a half from rt 88 and goes for 7 miles I think.  The creek is stocked from one end of the park to the other.  It used to be the lowest stocking point was the horse trailer parking and the upper was just below the upper road bridge.

    NBobich,

    How did you do?

    Thanks,
    Rick

I caught 2 14in rainbow. Then I had 4 other rainbows I hooked and I gave my pole to my dad to reel in, he never catches anything so I wanted him to catch some. But between me and my dad we caught 6. Or you could say I hooked 6 and reeled 2 in and my dad reeled 4 in. They were all nice size fish all rainbow. And it was a nice day!!!
