6/3 Mohawk River

Very strange day out there today. I only saw a handful of fish on my sonar. I tried everything. Bottom bouncing the deeper water with stickbaits and flatfish. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and rubber worms near shore and structure. Only boated one 15" healthy smallie, and one 10" chubby rock bass.

I tried my usual spots, and a few new spots that looked like they had potential. I was between locks 7 and 8.

If I get enough sleep at work tonight, I'll be out between locks 6 and 7 tomorrow.

I was mostly targeting walleye when bottom bouncing. Casting cranks, worms, and spinnerbaits for bass. I like to use various techniques throughout the day to try to find what's hot and what's not.

I didn't see any chestnut beds where I was. I'm sure they are forming between locks 6 and 7 though.

I'm off next Tues, Wed, and Thurs if anyone is interested in joining me.

Looks like I'll be able to sleep here at work for a bit.

I went up but the dry was dry..again few bugs and sporadic the time i spent. tried the late early eve not the mornings,, it was too crowded for both weekdays. can't see it getting any better so i may switch to the lakes soon. didn't have the energy for the one day and the last day was too threatening TS for alum.rowboating.

Hunter, I've picked up very few fish on my sonar as well. Something is definitely strange with the Mohawk this year. Last year my sonar was packed with fish.

One thing I can say. The rock bass I've been catching have been very fat.

I have a tournament on it Saturday. I am a bit concerned however. I think that I am going to do another practice run Thursday night and Friday night. I am not sure where to try or depth. Who knows. This weather should make a nice mess of things as well. Maybe it will stir them up a little.
