Shenango Dam

I have never fished Shenango (Lake), and would like to start....
Can I get some pointers, not asking for secret spots, but maybe areas, species, fishing tips, good bait store?
Good launch? I would be coming in from Mercer..I'd appreciate anything to get me and my two boys rolling... and fishing.
By the way I originally put this in the Southwest section so I am starting with going to get a map...
thanks in advance.

Oilcrk, Take rte 258 north out of Mercer. Approx 11 miles to the little village of Clark. It'a a rather windy road especially if you are towing a boat. There's a ramp right before you get to the intersection of rte 18. In fact it's right before you get to a big white building called "Tara." I think this is a bed and breakfast or restaraunt/hotel. There is a bait shop in a gentleman's garage/basement about 1/2 mile before you get to that particular ramp. It will be on the left side as you come out rte 258. You have to watch for it since it's actually off the main road. I usually target crappies but there are several species available: walleye, catfish, bass, perch, wipers, etc. Hope this helps.  Lou

fish the rip rap directly across from that launch for bass
find the channel on the north side of that section and fish it for cats, eyes and the occasional pike or muskie

Drag worm harnesses in the old river channel out from the golden run launch.  Usually just run the electric motor and drag them real slow, you will get the mixed basket, walleye, cats, bass, crappie and the occasional muskie.

Better too far back, than too far forward.

Whats his name I might know him I'm down there all the time. I had a good time tuesday, throwing floating raps caught the 3 biggest stripers of my life two at 27" 8 pounds and a 30 something 10 pounder that took me down river 150 yards. It was tough with the color yesterday and the past couple days.

I'm very familiar with the terms "RUN AND GUN" and "FISH ON!"

"They're in here I can smell 'em"
