Pymatuning crappies

Anybody catching anything? Not a lot of reporting going on. Sounds like most of the fish are still in the water.

We did lousy last weekend and even worse this weekend.  I hate fishing in the wind though.  The ones that we did catch last week were very large.  I'm hoping they are just behind a little from the previous couple years because we hammered them the last two this time of year.

dont normally give reports due to overcrowding but the spillway is no sceret. went to the hatchery and the spillway(sightseeing) and while we were at the spillway there was a fella doing very well. he was using a 2 minnow rig with a bobber and caught a nice stringer of crappie and white bass. he also caught a wiper about 4 pounds. there was a post a few years back that had a fella with 2 good sized wipers. were wipers stocked accidentally. there was a post about alewives being stocked. they apparently were stocked on purpose. went to the spillway after the hatchery or i would have inquired. fellas working downstairs in the hatchery shrugged their shoulders when i asked about pymy walleye numbers. they did have approx. 200,000 purebred muskies in the tanks that are going to be released as fingerlings in the fall into numerous lakes.

pretty sure, i have never been, and would like to see, 200,000 musky fingerlings or any other species for that matter, at the hatchery nearby.  can you just stop by if you'd like?

Thanks Commander, Startinout, and Mick. Wasn't sure if anyone was fishing, or were all out fishing, with the little bit of chatter on the forum.

A few fish near the stumps, good size though.

I had to head back to the city, but will be camping at linesville 2nd week of June for 10 days.  Should have a good report then.

Did very well this past weekend (fri & sat) south of the causeway in 15 FOW.  Caught over 40.  Most were slabs and a couple of walleye.  Hit a school of fish saturday and had multiple fish on on every pass.  Could have caught more but it was late and we ran out of minnows.  Still, caught several of mister twisters.

Just got back from vacation this week and was wondering if anyone was catching crappies in the shallows still.  Was out to pymy on wednesday and HAMMERD the big bluegills in shallow. Caught my limit in a little over 2 hours.  Was lots of fun, but would still like to get a few slabs if I can.

I'm hitting pymy tomorrow...any tips on where to start for some slabs and/or eyes?  I haven't fished it since shortly after ice-out.  I've heard some decent reports around the south end, but have never fished south of the causeway.  Any help would be appreciated.  PM me if you don't want to report publicly. Thanks.

My dad was up last weekend and said all the guys he talked to up by linesville did pretty good on the slabs.  I haven't fished it for two weeks, so I can't say for sure, but dad sounded encouraged that it's not over yet.

Fished today (Sunday) from 8am until 7pm at northern end.  We spent most of our time around Clark and Harris Islands, but made our rounds down to the spillway and around Tuttle point.  We ended up catching about 25 crappie (2 over 14", most in the 10" range), a couple cats, many dink perch, and many LM and SM some decent size...All fish were released.  We never really found any crappie schooled up, we'd catch one or two in an area, then move and catch another.
Most of the Northern end had white caps today, was brutal at times.  It was really too heavy of a wind to drift fish effectively without a drift sock.
