The lake at Ambridge is open and mostly ice free. It was stocked with trout morning of 3/17.

Yes, they said there were 3 that were close to 10lbs.  None were caught while I was there. Lots of 15 to 18" though.  Probably headed down in about an hour. Not sure, it may have iced up last night and I don't think Frank will be there to open it with the boat.

    Creel,

How you been? Have you been down to see if Hereford Manor is ice free yet. Was thinking of possibly hitting that again this spring before they go out at the end of the month..

SO MANY FISH SO LITTLE TIME.
WHY ARE ALL THE PLACES I HAVE YET 2 FISH SO FAR AWAY?

It was still mostly iced over as of the day before yesterday. The cove along the road was open but the water was very muddy there from the rain, probably cleared up some by now. Not sure if it is still open or not. It's been cold the last two nights and I haven't been by there.

Drove by this morning, still mostly ice covered. A little open water along the dam but you're not allowed to fish from there. Could have fished from the wall on the opposite side by the outflow and casted along the ice, but I didn't try. It's windy and sunny so hopefully there is some serious melting going on everywhere now.

376, you don't have to be a member to fish it, for non members it is $9 members $6, they stock in on Saturdays, and have bait there and also serve food and Soda's, Coffee, chips ect, ect..  Good luck, John

The lake is off route 989,  I think it may actually be in Baden, but it's owned by the Ambridge Sportsmen's Association.  Probably about a mile from the intersection of 989 and conway wallrose road, you'll see a sign for the club, turn there and wind around down over the hill, you'll come to a parking area at the club house, drive through the lot and if the gate is open you can drive down to the lake. If gate is closed you'll have to wait until someone gets there to open up, they are "Usually" there by 7am.

Non-members are allowed to fish it, I'm not a member there either.  I think it is only open to non-members during spring, ice-out until the end of May. But I'm not even sure about that. I never tried to fish there other than March and April.

There is some photos at the following link, you can see some of the lake in the backround of a few pics. The "wiper" in the first pic was caught a few years ago. I think it may have died. Normally this time of year you'd see it cruising the shore line, but I haven't seen it at all.  There are lots of small Largemouth bass and a few big ones. Lots of crappies and gills also, catfish, grass carp, and it's regularly stocked with trout in the spring.  You can only keep trout, all other species must be released.

I,m a member or this club, fine place to shoot pistols, rifles, blackpowder, (All have courses) there is also an out door archery range with various stations. You can also shoot shotguns and pistols(lead only) in-doors. You can keep gills if u want. Also a nice lounge to throw a few back.
