30th Annual on Pymatuning

Had our 30th annual company outing Saturday out of Espyville Marina( Sarahs). First off as always Sarah couldn't have been a better host along with all of her assistants.
We rented 30 pontoons, bought 300 dozen minnie, 300 dozen worms, all was ready to go by 6:15, didn't launch until sunrise. Can't beat her hospitality, she said no problem with the amount of people and she was right, didn't miss a beat
All told we had about 135 anglers on the lake. We have a contest on the bigest game fish and pay 6 places, no boats but pontooons allowed.
First place was a 24 7/8 " walleye, 6th place was 19 3/4". All together I'd say we measured about 30 walleye, 7-8 years ago winner was 20", As we all know numbers have declined but the fish are bigger, at least that's what we've seen. Many nice crappie caught, catfish, perch, white bass, smallmouth, largemouth.
I typed the same thing last year, not one accidental muskie ws caught, been 30 years we have not even caught a small one.
Wow did the lake get rough, had one pontoon couldn't get started, wind pushed into shore, some damage to the cover but all safe.
Around 2:50 evidently someone capsized saw the fire dept coming into the marina, hopefully all worked out ok.
Jarrod Hamm, 12 years old caught his first walleye, nice and fat 19", almost placed.
As ususal Matt our Waterways Conservation officer was his cordial self, stopped and chatted gave us reports from other boats. All had a good time, little wet and windy but that's all part of it!
