Hooks

Alright ive been having a argument with my dad this year about hooks I personally use these cheap ones i got from walmart 20 for a dollar they only have a barb at the tip and none anywhere else but the hook itslef s a little longer at the straight point no the curve part then say the one eagle claws my dad is usuing. He is using hooks with a barb at the tip and 2 barbs on the straight part of the hook.

Now how heres the scenario ive been using these cheap hooks with no barbs for 2 years now ad hes still been using the double barb. Hes lost 5 otr 6 rout last week after he was hooked and i still after 2 years havnt lost one ocnce hhoked now my question is is this really dumb luck or is it because the straigh part of the hook is longer help out now remeber the part where it curves to the tip is the same ize just the staight part of hook is longer and help or suggestionw oudl be helpfu.
