kinzua tailrace

I have heard some good things about this place, and I was thinking about trying it for trout or bass. Just wanted some input on the tailrace before I go down. Thanks.

Had good luck for bass and walleye right at the dam, but the stretch of river down to warren I have heavy trout action. Most trout about 9-10 inches.

It's real big water.  Right now there are lots of smaller rainbows with some 14-16' bows mixed in.  It is managed as trophy trout so there are some big browns and bows.  Fish low light conditions for the big ones.  For spin fishing,  live shiners, rapalas, spinners will produce.  For fly guys, swing streamers for the larger fish and subsurface caddis/hare's ears etc... Good luck and be careful wading if the water is over 2500.
    take care,

From opening day of trout season untill Labor day it's 2 fish 14 in. minimum. From Sept. 2 untill 8:00 am of the opening day of the trout season of the following year no trout may be killed or had in possession.

There will be days when fishing is better than ones optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

I've seen some photos of some monster (NY style) brownies that came out of there. Always wanted to try that section.
