No one is coming to the Erie tribs cause of high gas prices, locals will have all the fish , but no revenue from the fishery...

Where do I sign up for your typing class Peacymike, the back room of the Moontin Bar?Maybe your n is broken on your keyboard(and your caps lock, comma, period, shift bar,or just close one eye). However,I will be making the trip.Just less often than previous years which will put me in front of the computer more to check weather and wave conditions on the lake while planning for a future trip,in turn permitting me to view your Hemingway-like posts. How much for the class?

Please clarify that message. I will fish when i can reguardless of the
outlandish price for food and fuel. It is my only means of keeping my
sanity. We must all cut back on fun, but fishing will not be one of them.

Missed ya peacy ! Where you been ??? Perhaps they will develop a hemp powered party van that runs on second hand smoke? If they do stop & get me on your way up I'll split half the bong.

Anyway I got news for you poor walleyes I can no longer come up with 1-2 fisherman on the boat ; looks like it'll be atleast 3-4 to split the bill . Tight lines ... DC

hivue05 has said it right. doesnt matter what it takes to go fishing if thats what holds the sanity in and keeps the peace in your mind. even if your not catching much or nuttin at all , its the time spent with good friends or being alone , and fishing being the reality of keeping your mind in check. The hell with what happend during your day at work or whatever went wrong in the day im going fishing !!!!

Peacy, thought you turned in for the summer ???? Is this a new side ???? The Summer side ???? With the price of fuel we'll just have to cut back other ways. Still shootin to get the walleye on the endangered list so you all will appreciate the sheep of the deep more...    Dave

I don't have a clue what Peacy was talking about, so one of us is sane...  Last I knew I was???

I don't know what kind of money you guys are made of(or maybe you use the plastic), but with the $4/gallon gas coming I decided to just leave the boat in the garage.  And I AM A LOCAL.  Right now myy boat is sitting 4 miles from Walnut.  As much as I want to get out, I just cannot justify spending $30-40 each trip for gas in the boat, another $10 in the truck, and figure an even $50 at the bait shop.  I don't care how priceless those fish may be.  "holds the sanity in", I'll blow my brains out before I go back into debt just to fish.

I think you'll be seeing fewer of us locals out there this year since a lot of us were just able to afford to fish in the first place.  Now that the cost of living has skyrocketed we need to cut back.  It certainly won't be on food, or gas to get to work, or paying the mortgage.  It'll be on hobbies.  Since the first of the year I have gone fishing a grand total of 6 times, 4 ice fishing 2 for crappies.  And this is the person that has enough ice gear to outfit 5 people at once and usualy doesn't perch fish in the boat because he puts enough crappie in the freezer in the spring not to have to.  I've already decided that hunting next fall is going to be scaled way back.  Duck is flat out, goose is looking doubtful, and I can justify getting my 20 year old bow back out now only because if I let one fly I'll have a heck of a pay off in the freezer.

That there's the key.  Split the gas, even dock fees and (minor) repair costs/work, and get out there.  There's enough food swimming around out there to make it worth the efforts, and now that peacy's not coming, there'll be even more.

    Yesterday - $42 gas - $7 bait - $24 food = $73 for 12 Saugeye (worth it) A weekend in Erie for 2 - approx. $350 - split $175 each (still worth it) Dave
