south pier perch 4/22


 
                 
 
The perch action off the south pier is picking up. This old timer stoped back to show off his 14 inch perch, I didn't believe it was that small so we measured it and it was 16 5/8 inch. Ed (peg leg) only ended up with 12 fish but all over 10 inches. Water temperature varies in the bay. misery bay 54-56deg. The head to Niagara 52-54deg.The lake has not wormed up as fast, a constant North East breeze has kept the cold water pushed in and the small mouth action on the slow side. A quarter million smolt have ben stocked in the bay and if the water temp keeps climbing the walleye hit should be good to fair.

    That is one heck of a perch. Looks like a smallmouth if you look at it quick.
     
    I may have to get down there! Those two would make a nice dinner.

    Monster perch.And Coolerful1 is right.You are spot on.I fished for smallmouth on April 18th and your earlier post around 4/11 about smallmouth in the bay was that most would catch 2-3. My brother and I caught 4 between the 2 of us for a 10 hour day.Thanks, even though some of my posts are cynical.
