When I was a kid, longer ago than I care to mention, my little brother and I were fishing near Mayburg with our dad. My dad was catching trout, but me and my brother couldn't catch anything but chubs. So, boys will be boys and the sport became, catch a chub, then cast the chub back out and reel it in as fast as possible and watch that baby spin.

I can verify that a musky can swim faster than my brother can reel. The lightning-bolt quickness of a decent musky grabbing my brother's chub right by his feet was only slightly faster than the amount of time it took for the musky to break his line. The look on his face was one of those photographic moments that get burned into your mind forever.

If you fish that water, you might need a bigger net....

Mayburg my favorite trout fishing destination!  I've caught bass and heard many guys talk about the musky stealing a trout but never seen it.  I know some day my luck will change.  They come up out of the lake in the spring time so you never know what you will see in the tionesta creek...

Thats awesome I fished Mayburg this year for the first day, I have heard similar things but never seen one there.  Anyone fish the creek further down to the lake and target muskies?  Always wondered if it would be a worthwhile experience.

My camps in Mayburg . Last year on the other side of the small island in front of camp I kicked out a big bruiser musky . Watch your toes down there DT . If you night fish upstream watch the beavers they get pretty fiesty chasing top waters for small mouth . Loomis did you attend the kareoke party on Saturday night in Mayburg ???? You probably seen me the guy fishing with a chicken hat . LOL I'll be back up there for the 1st weekend in May hope to see some of you folks . Tight lines -DC
