smallmouth on lake erie

would like to make trip to lake erie from m.d about 4hrs.plan on coming up wensday to friday.anybody been out on lake yet ?water tempature?are the smallmouth there yet?like to fish spoon bill jerkbaits in 20ft of water any imput is it to early.thanks

    The water is warming up quick so the smallie action should start to heat up soon.  They're out there so just figure them out and catch'em. Good luck

    I always start my season the 1st weekend of May. I have found that at that time, water temp in the area betweem Lampe and Northeast (at least on the surface) is typically about 52 degrees. I think you can get the water temp from the NOAA marine forecast.

    Any other questions should be answered on the lake to figure out your own pattern.Good luck.
