Coming 10+ hrs to get home this week, will be heading up to Erie area on Tuesday looking for some Steelhead. Fished there in Dec for the first time and Im now hooked! Trading the Red's of SC for the Steel of PA..

start with getting out of the car

progress to putting on your gear

then look at water and weather

then, take a guess of everything you got in your boxes and fish.

eggs and nymphs both will work, what size depends on the water clarity.  Look from the middle of tribs down and you should be able to find fish if you stay on the move.

Also be nice to the little smolty smolts.

When you think your streamer is to big, go up another size. Not many know how cool a 5" string leech looks hanging out a steelheads mouth.

dreamcather and i were out last sunday. pink sucker spawn worked for us. i couldn't get a hit on a bugger but dreamcatcher caught a couple on minnows later in the day. ~dt

Don't count out the white bead head nymph , who knows what they think it is ????? but I know it works for me anyway . I believe someone referenced it as "the steelhead fly" a few months ago. but I like to run that white nymph on the bottom of my dropper 9" below a light colored SS in clear water or a brighter egg  pattern as clearity gets closer to chocolate milk. Also fish seemed to stay deep early and as the water warmed were hitting up higher the latter part of the day . Its all variable to conditions - hope that helps Tight lines -DC

Your always such a big help. Either try to help this guy or don't bother wasting the space.
