filson coat

My son picked up a filson wading jacket for me recently. I looked at the filson web site but saw no information on what to use on the material to keep it waterproof. If anyone has one can they let me know what to use? Thanks.

you need to do anything to keep it waterproof
my dad has a rain jack of theirs and loves it
the oil-cover cloth has a wax coating which will keep it waterproof unless you wash it with soap
just use a hose to get dirt off

read the discription for oil cover cloth... remember no washing with soap

you'll have to touch up the high wear areas with the parafin they give you.  Elbows, shoulders, and anywhere else that gets flexed or rubbed against.  Every now and then a full coating helps.  It is easiest to send back to filson, but you can do it yourself on a warm day.

enjoy.  I've been using my weekender coat as an all purpose outdoor coat for a bunch of years now.  With the heavy wool lining it is an all year coat.  It isn't as waterproof as Goretex, but in a drizzle to light rain you'll stay dry.  I need to go clean the front of mine as the last time I wore it I was belly crawling through a field to shoot a few hares.

    thanks
