serious ? about SYLK

i got my 3wt. 444 sylk fly line today. it has small black markings through-out the whole line. it is not dirt, i used line cleaner and it is not cracks. it also does not feel as smooth as my other 444 lines. any one that has Sylk 444 line, is this normal?

    You can quit scrubbing, now.
about those marks...... Those marks are there to give it the appearance (and feel) of an actual silk line.
Don't try to grease it like a silk line either. The line will get very tacky. Ya might want to find out which dressing, if any, Cortland recommends.

    DT,

DITTO what DANO said. Those specks are supposed to mimic the seeds in the linseed oil used on the old silk lines.

The Sylk is a soft line, so keep it out of extreme heat and you will be fine (such as the back of your car during summer). Clean it after every few trips with the new Pro Line cleaner. It seems to work better than the older cleaners we carried. Excessive cleaning and scrubbing will wear the coating down. Pull the line off the reel and through the pad, then pull it back through once more. That's it.
