Why can't some anglers....

Some just don't care....I just hope they took them with them when they left. One of my trips in the fall, we met up with TT, and Skip...and fished with TT on Elk and saw two separate fish roped that were just left on the bank. I guess if they didn't get three it wasn't worth it to them...disgraceful.

I have the right to remain silent.....I just don't have the ability

Sounds like a normal day in a put and take fishery. People dont care about the fish they just want to harvest.

I guess if thats what folks want to do with their catch, it is afterall their perogative as long as they take them and make good use of them.  However, I don't know why they would do that rather than keeping the fish on a stinger and in the water to keep them fresh.  About a month ago, I forgot my stringer and wanted to keep a couple and had no choice, but to throw them up in the snow.  I normally keep them on a stringer and in the water.  About a half hour before I leave, I like to cut the gills to bleed the fish which makes for cleaner fillets and a lot less blood while cleaning them.  Just my two cents.

    My God.....
This is the absolute best of totally 'response provoking stuff' I've ever read!  Are you serious?

What the (expletive deleted) does it matter if someone puts a magnificent Steelhead on a stringer, a Willow branch (try it some time), in their back pack, or throws it up on the bank?  I am catch-n-release... but when someone asks me to keep one for them... I throw it on the bank, and bring it home when I'm finished fishing.

yea, and it's a great sight for a landowner that comes walking by to see dieing steelhead flopping around on his grass.....

it appears that you put as much thought into your post as you do when you throw your steelhead on someone elses property.....

and some wonder why we keep losing water to fish. good grief.....

    Dear Carpitiss,
    Are you serious?
What does putting a magnifcent Steelhead on the ground have to do with a landowner posting their land?

Actually if there is snow on the bank, it is not such a bad idea to put the fish in the snow.  At least they will remain cold until they will be cleaned.  What is disturbing is finding the remains of a steelie that was cleaned along the stream.  Yesterday I found the gills and internal organs of a steelie along the bank of Walnut creek.  Someone cleaned the fish at the creekside and left the mess behind.

To solve the problem just CATCH AND RELEASE THEN WE DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM. But that would be asking to much ,And besides steelhead taste like chit anyways just my opinion. Not one of the fish i would want to have as table fair. But i guess some people just have the mentally that they have to keep everything they catch. Thats too funny. Out of hundreds of fish i catch a year i might keep 2-or 3 for smoked and were talking thats once in a blue moon. But that does chap my ares when i see a stringer that has fish on it just to lay their and die. The person did that needs to have a stringer put through his mouth and tied to a tree with his arms cuffed behind his back. can you say jag offs. HAVE MORE RESPECT PEOPLE! Sorry the way i feel about it.

You can't just toss them on the bank, when I tried that the other day, their eggs were shooting everywhere.  So I had to club them with a rock, and milk the eggs into a ziploc.

I don’t keep steelhead however when a friend wants some I’ll bring some home mostly for bragging rights lol, it’s also a chore lugging 30 lbs of fish around.

LMAO, I can't believe you wrote that. That is exactly what I was thinking. Bonk'em, then they lay still and you don't have to hunt for them.

AMen  catch and release  .. To be honest once upon a time  I would take fish home  for bragging rights  or to eat . bust as the years  go on  I found  myself caring  more  for the sport than my own ego..  plus there is the mercury content  of the fish  to consider   So if you needed to supplement  your income to save money for a meal or two or the food bank was closed  down  and it was a matter of  feeding yourself  and the family  â€œhell “  I would  give you my fish.   But for most it’s the thrill of the hunt  finding the conditions and the right presentation   to catch fish that makes  fishing fun and a great sport  ( at least its that way for me )   I WAS talking with the  gentlemen  that works the fly store I go to and we were talking  about how much  it cost to fly fish ( for  us that don’t tie flies ) and he made a statement  that  guys that golf spend all kinds of money  for equipment  green fee’s exedra… some people   say whats  fun about  standing in a stream   with a hook and a worm  I will say whats fun about hitting a little ball in a  hole  they reply it takes skill .. I reply  so does fishing .. but in retro you don’t see guys  on a golf green  through down there  clubs  and start making a ham sandwich and leaving stuff behind   on the green  ..

My point is this, we all have to agree we love fishing  and  we want to continue fishing  but in my opinion  in winter  tossing  a few fish in the snow is  pretty much the  same as tossing them in a cooler  but  leaving remains  of the fish  after cleaning  them.. is no different than  tossing garbage  on the ground  land owners  enjoy the tranquility of the stream( I know I would)  and even in winter  don’t mind a stroll along the banks only  to find a pile  of fish guts  How long will they like that .. than later on  see fishermen  just tossing fish on there land  they don’t know   what your intent is  on  keeping them forgetting them   so  i say  lets just be  careful of our surroundings .
