Too bad they didn't stock that lake. I only got 20-30 fish.

Yes, it was quite dissappointing when it slowed down and it was a good 4 or 5 minutes between fish.

We were doing quite well until the WCO came by and drained the lake. Washing all the fish into the lower lake. It was terrible. Probabley didn't get more than 50-60 between us today.

coyote, yep that'd be the upper lake and it would have been over our heads back then.  Still about 22 to 24 feet of water up there in places though.

We finally did see an Eagle fly over the lake a couple times today.   Several people have seen it, I thought they were seeing osprey's because there's 3 or 4 of them out there, but there is definitely an eagle too.

Besides, I have it from a good source that there were only fish stocked in the southeast corner of that little pond, so there was no chance I was going to catch anything over where we were fishing.

There was another Spoon siting on Sunday. Almost that same spot.
He's hooked. He was chucking a beachball at them though, not a spoon.

The upper lake was great! It was so deep in the summer you could still catch trout while bass fishing!
P.S. Didn't the trout up there always seem bigger than below?

Porter, IMO, I think the lower lake is producing the bigger fish.

The bigger fish are in whatever lake they decide to dump them into. I haven't noticed any difference, there are a few big fish in both lakes.  Both lakes are deep enough to keep trout throughout summer,  more make it in the upper lake because it's not fished as heavily.  The trout have trouble in both lakes late summer/fall when the weeds are dying off and using up oxygen.  If you watch close enough you'll see them in schools that time of year like minnows in a bucket that needs the water changed.  Some times if we get heavy rain that time of year it seems to allow allot of them to live, but many become weak and are either eaten by something or catch disease. There were lots of fungus infected browns in the upper lake last September, but quite a few that made it ok as well.  None of the trout stocked live through enough years to grow into monsters in there.

No browns on the stock list for hereford this year, kind of a bummer. They do great in the lower lake, especially with the alewives down there.  We used to catch tons in July drifting minnows in the deep, they were all very fat healthy fish puking up alewives.  The rainbows key in on the alewives too, but they are too stupid and allot of them get gut hooked by the power baiters by mid summer.

Still thousands of fish in both lakes right now and more on the way Saturday. Three times today fishing with a two fly rig I had two fish hooked at once, only landed both of them 1 time though. Caught the same Palomino in the upper lake that I caught last week, I know it's the same fish because of the goofy shaped tail.

there are some monster bass in the upper lake, caught walleye in both lower and upper; random at best. Also caught muskie in the lower. I used to fish both lakes a few years ago. But i'm fishin the rivers and bradys more often now. I still can't believe the sight of that upper lake looks like a motocross track.

Black, olive, brown jigs or flies.  It doesn't matter much most of the time.  Trout magnets, mini-foo or marabou jigs, wooly buggers, Pheasant tail nymphs,  chartruese power worms, it really doesn't matter.  Fish under a bobber 3 or 4 feet deep, if the sun is bright fish deeper. Better yet, fish first light until 11 am if it's going to be bright sun.  Allot of people I've helped out there were fishing too heavy of line, stick with 4lb test. They can be caught on heavier line, but even the pellet fed trout get a little line shy at times.

Black rooster tail, gold castmasters, and just about any other lure were working well.
