Catfishing Trip

I've never done much catfishing, but last month I visited my daughter & son-in-law in Virginia and my son-in-law took me catfishing on the James River.  He was a superb guide and not only had us into fish, but some big ones.  Here are a couple of pictures of the biggest one--a 48 pounder!
 
 

 

 
It was tough holding that fish up for pics--the only way to grap it was to put your hand in its mouth.  Let me tell you, those things can bite.  They don't have teeth much bigger than a bass, but they can really clamp down.  It drew blood & scraped up my hand pretty good.  At one point it had hold of my middle finger & I couldn't get it out.  Thought my son-in-law was going to fall out of the boat laughing.  A memorable experience at any rate.

    Be Proud!! Thats a hell of a whiskerfish! What were your techniques and bait?

     Largest channel cat weighed in at 23lbs and had a length of 38 in. Caught on crankbait trolling 12 fow at night
