Sinnemahoning Creek

Anyone fish or live by the Sinnemahoning, or the branch (think Bendix Branch).  I drove Rt. 555 and that is some nice area.  Got to see 4 groups of elk.  A friend said that the creek there is polluted though (chemical spill).  It didn't really look polluted.  It looked like a nice size stream.  Once we hit Sinnemahoning, that looked more like a river.  Which isn't bad, but harder to fish if you don't know the water.

along 555 is bennett's branch and yes it is polluted.  it has come a long way from the old days when it ran orange, you can still see an orange tint in some places if you look around a bit.  but it has undergone a tremendous amound of clean up and may some day hold fish.  but the 555/120 trip along the creek is one of the most scenic rides in PA.  many of the stream flowing into the bennett;s are fishable.

      Tim,

I had a friend that lived in Tyler. Fished up that way since the 70s. I always called Bennett's sulfur creek. I think P.S.U. has helped clean it up. I fished mostly Laurel Rn., Medix, Little Medix, Hicks Run & Jack Dent. I would post this on the North Central Board.

Before the train wreck last year Sinnemahoning Creek and Driftwood Branch were great fisheries.  Now all of the fish are dead.  Try the tributaries to Bennet Branch  -  Medix run, Hicks Run, or Mix Run for some great wilderness trout fishing.
