Anything I can find on sale for under $50.00 . Its getting out of hand for crying out loud. I got a catalog yesterday the prices for lines ran anywhere from $64.00 to over $129.00 for a line . It amazes me that they can make a quality spinning rod for under $200.00 but a fly rod runs over $700.00 and up . The sad part is people buy them. It sure makes it tough on us retired guys.

There will be days when fishing is better than ones optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

All the newer high tech brands are all pretty good.  I'm currently using Rio nymph taper for my steelhead outfit and Orvis Wonderline for my trout action.  They both work great.

I've used triangle taper in many previous years.  Hard to beat.

Think I'm going to give rio's selective trout a try this year; just for something different.  My TT is pretty beat up.

    Gentlemen,
Bass Pro is having a sale THIS weekend. 64.00 line as a "loss leader" marked down to 9.99! At least the Clarksville Indiana store is having a sale.

    Rio Classic Trout.
Also tried Rio Selective Trout. Seemed kinda fat compared to the Classic line. Also, it took a few days worth of fishing to break it in and get it to lay out. Mine got micro cracks within a few months. But, I haven't heard any one else complain about cracking, though.

Hook and Hackle has their own brand which is very similar in appearance  and feel to the cortland 555.  They sell it for $30.  Let you know how it works in Utah next week!

Their line works very well. I've had it on one of my rods since August.

Cortland Precision Western Drifter is a great line, along with the 555 Dyna Tip.

Can't go wrong with the 444 Classic Peach.

I used the RIO Long Cast alot, and then they moved to the Accelerator which was also a great line.

When I sold Rio in the shop I worked at, most guys prefered the Selective Trout. The Mainstream was a close second.

For spooky summer trout, I use the Cortland Clear Creek. The extra long tip make it easier to lay down a delicate presentation. The muted Olive color is great for terrestrial time on barely moving water.
