Yeah, more than 2,500 in the state so not much to choose from. Hope you get into the Crappie like last fall. Freezer is empty so would like to get out down the end of the road at camp a couple times in Oct. -- Nov. for Perch. They have been easy Pickens this time ov year in the past. Not much skill needed so I fit the bill.

Without getting into too deep of a dive, no business having any kind of tournaments out there. It's such a small lake with a limited amount of space. Add 40 to 50 extra boats, not to mention cash at stake, no wonder it's a chit show.

Agree 100%. That lake gets a ton of pressure for its size regardless. The cash part turns normal people into idiots.

It is crystal clear near your place Chris, in late fall, if no rain. The rest of the lake, I have never seen clear. I think Erie is the only actual lake on that list. Pretty sure all of the others are reservoirs.

I meant Linesville launch, I'm closer to that and Alcatraz and Tim's place is closer to R/C. and Wilson launch.

Muddy where it dumps in can get pretty clear if no rain. Guessing the amount of weeds in the area keeps the sediment down?

Not sure where Red Cross is.

Yeah, it can get clear at times. Have seen schools of Bass feeding on Bluegill fry and catch one after another if stay far enough away so not to spook. Red Cross is a inlet (small lake) connecting to Pymie on far north end. Panfish Paradise in the spring.

Called home to have my youngest son take out my panfish soft tackle bag out of Tim's boat that he used in April. Well of course it was soaked even with the Ranger boat cover that has come off now and then  Had him and the old lady spread all the tackle over the pool table cover so too dry out. If I loose anything from it I'll double take from him. He has totes after totes of new panfish tackle so now big deal but that doesn't mean not to take care of things, especially what is not his. Oh well life goes on.

I ran into those largemouth one time. I think that I pulled 6-7 on 10 casts and then they spooked. Nothing huge, but a pretty fun 10 minutes or so.

One time I pitched a 8" Perch thinking a Pike would be lurking. When my line started to take off I said "oh yeah baby", ended up being a LM not much bigger than the Perch

If you wanted to go for some slab Crappie and decent size Perch next late March - April up Pymie you are more than welcome to stay the night up here so not to rush home being tired. A good bit of the coves north end hold nice Crappie in April but RC you are protected from the wind more. Some real frisbees up here.

I might just have to hit you up, if that hits before the kids spring sports seasons. The wife and I are usually taking one or the other in different directions when they are in season. I wasn’t able to convince them that fishing is better. I failed!

Went out twice tonight for crawlers and came straight back in. It is a steady downpour, hope it lets up soon.                                                                                                                                                                Dang insulated a few of the first floor rooms too good. Can't hear a thing. Ended up ripping drywall then plaster/laths then 18"-- 22" wide boards off some walls on 2nd floor this week so I could insulate the walls. Did one room yesterday and then took all insulation out today. Can't insulate walls on these big old lap sided houses, they have to breath or will rot out. Put 29 new windows in plus 4 twice (33) but not going to rip the siding off then seal and re-side just to insulate . I do everything twice!!!

More than likely the Chub creeks will be flooded tomorrow and if don't get Crawlers it will be artificial only on Friday.

Hear you on the kids sports. My kids liked hunting to much for the fall sports after the age of 12.

I don't even care if you are a MAGA now. I'll still fish with ya.

You might be sleeping in your truck or on one of the porches though!!

Ended up going out for worms at 12:20 am. Was to late for them, seems 1/2 hr. >  hr. or so after dark has always been the best times in the past. Tried a few weeks ago at home but the bugs were so terrible that didn't go well either.

Robinson's bait is closed for the season for the most part.
Gillette's Bait & Tackle is open (help yourself minnow tanks) cash drop box is closer so might be a option. Pouring even harder now.

Forgot my buddy down the rd. a little from home owes me a lifetime supply of Shiners

Fished Moraine yesterday in the rain. Did more scouting than fishing kept waiting for the weather to clear and it never happened.Marked fish everywhere but no fall patterns yet for the big boys or Crappies. Water temp 62 degrees. Soon.

Nice change in water temp from a week ago. I was debating yesterday, but the wind reports had me more concerned than the rain. I saw gusts over 20mph forecasted, which usually means 20 sustained…. Last week the sonar was filled with fish too. But only got into fish in spots that I have done well in the past. I tried a few passes in areas that I was marking, but nothing.

Re: Arthur 2022 2022/10/06 09:42:54 (permalink)
Made it out yesterday for the first time this year. Got shiners from my buddy down the lane. One of the best deals I ever made when I told him a life time ov minnies or no deal on the speakers.

First place was packed with no parking available so went to 2nd choice and no one there. Just didn't enjoy the hike with waders, loaded bait bucket, extra bucket, over loaded tackle bag and so on. First cast a decent Perch so thought this might be a outing for them. Only one I caught in the 4 hours there. Caught 5 LM including a 17", 18" and a 20", half a dozen Gills, 3 Catfish 24"--28" and brough home the Perch and 22 Crappie, none over 12". Something had teeth 3 breakoffs before a good hookset.

It was pretty boring considering I hadn't gone in almost a year with a steady slow bite and had to really work for the Crappie with zero breeze. Nice when there is at least a ripple on the surface. Dreaded the hike back to the truck.

Oh well maybe it will be funner if I go to Pymy?
