This weekend shouldn't be too bad if the weather forecast holds up.  80+% chance of rain and thunderstorms should keep the crowds down.  Everyone wants to get out and enjoy the nice weather.  Unfortunately for most, these perfect weather days are during the week.

I've got a few weeks before I can even mention the word fishing to the wife right now...  Just took a 5 day trip to FL.  Worth it.

I’m gonna hit Arthur tomorrow. It should be the first really good chance for a day to get into some fish up there since I put all the decking on the boat last fall.

I’m sure there will be some other boats out but it shouldn’t be as bad as a weekend in July.

Pictures or it didn't happen  Maybe if you would have taken the Ole lady things could be different??  Got a fishing license and haven't made it out yet. Every year for the past 33 or so early May has been like clock work for when the Byrds and Eyes (3 hour) top water bonanza happens. Couldn't sleep one night last week so went to take a look at a few places that congregate the feeding frenzy this time every yr. Sure enough nothing has changed in those spots. Didn't even take a rod with me. Enjoy this weather.

I would have definitely been on better terms if I took her.

Launched at McDanels this morning, caught 2 perch near the 422 bridge. Hopefully I'll do better in Erie next weekend.

I guess they don’t mind company. Steel are in the creeks and will be loaded after the streams are up a bit. Crappie and perch should be heating up on most local lakes. I’m guessing those that know how to catch eyes will be getting them as lakes cool too. And not too long before guys are getting their hunting gear in order, hitting ranges, etc. Just a good time of year for outdoors. The options seem to spread the crowds.

I got up early yesterday and sighted in my deer rifles, had the whole club to myself.

I'm up for a Pymie trip.  Hopefully after the sports schedules die down a bit.  Seasons just started and I am about ready for them to be done...

The fall is probably the best outdoor opportunities of the year for so many things.  I prefer spring, because I can't stand winter peeking its head in, but I do think fall has more to offer.

Throw in football on weekends, school and whatever other activities that are keeping guys with kids busy.  I don't worry too much about the heroes that feel the need to plaster videos of their catches on smaller bodies of water in the fall or even spring.  Mid summer, is much more of an issue with so many guys able to get out.  Add 80+ degree water that turns those fish belly up an hour after being released.

Not sure when they were doing, but water temp was low/mid 70’s last Sunday with that cold front that passed through. Nights are getting chilly and cooling things down. I’m hoping to a range that they are doing fine after released. If they are being released... Which, yes, if you basically post a how to for everyone, not all are releasing. So, I get what your concern is. Unfortunately some people feel the need to be internet fishing show stars and either don’t realize or don’t care about the consequences.

Good timing, unless you were looking for company to shoot the chit with and not just lead! Buck fever will be spreading sooner than later. Thunderpoles posts on the archery thread almost has me thinking about it. That is some excellent dedication. I hope it pays off.

Just got back from a section of the lake. Car needed driven around the block, sitting too long. Saw no fishers or boats. Even with all the rain the lake is at its lowest point all year and dropping.

I've seen a marked change in fish attitudes in the last 2 weeks on Arthur. The fall bite might be early this year. And good grief the channel cats have been like locusts... You can't keep them off the hook.

Went out Sunday night. Water was 74 degress. Got a couple channel cats and Crappie. Not a lot of activity. Need a couple frosts.

Well, fishing sucked on Saturday for me at least. One small largemouth, and a small smallmouth. Water was low 70s and upper 60s depending where you went. 528 side had a bad algae bloom, and over McDaniel side was brown water.

Went out Saturday too. Got a few. Imagine there would be a good dip in water temp if turned. Was 71 where I was.

I think a musky tourney going on? The amount of guys musky trolling seemed more than I have ever noticed or I just happened to be fishing a musky hotspot? Some guys got pretty dang close on their trolling passes too. So figured there must be some cash or prize on the line.

There was a musky event, they were launching out of 528, when I rolled up little before 8am. Heck, some of them started trolling right at the launch.

Some of these tournament guys are complete bozos. I guess that can be said of any crowd though. Most seemed like good guys, wave as they go by, give a respectable distance when passing. One knuckle dragger came directly at our boat that was drifting. Didn’t steer clear until maybe 20-30 feet away, with his planer boards maybe 10 feet from my boat. If people are such sore losers, why even bother getting in a tournament? Going the typical 5-7 mph that they troll at with the typical wake that speed kicks up. Maybe it was the bent rods that loser was seeing when passing my boat? Sorry loser if you are reading this, maybe one day you will be in the 10% that catches 90% of fish. Until then, you will be the loser that you are. Go home and beat your wife, since it was clearly her fault you suck at fishing.

salty much?  lol.....maybe keep a stout, 7' ocean rod with 100# braid and and a heavy, weighted treble tied on it for just such a time... have a reel that can be locked down with 30-40# of drag and go to town when he gets too close next time.  You'll fight better than any musky he had ever hoped to catch and likely win the battle handily.  Might even get a nice, expensive musky plug out of it.

Maybe a little work stress in that message! Like said, most of the guys seemed good. The normal musky guys are always respectful and have talked to a bunch at launches. Seem like great guys that are on a different level of addiction to fishing that I respect. Usually my favorite guys on the lake. My bet is the guy was frustrated that he wasn’t catching anything and I must have been drifting over the spot he wanted to fish.

Bass tournament guys have the same bad apples. One guy coming off of the lake cut in line of multiple other boats going into the launch, then cuts a guy or two off from the parking lot to the ramp. After that, he clogged up the ramp unloading his gear and other staging. Possibly the biggest jerk move that I have ever witnessed.

Without getting into too deep of a dive, no business having any kind of tournaments out there. It's such a small lake with a limited amount of space. Add 40 to 50 extra boats, not to mention cash at stake, no wonder it's a chit show.

Going to set a few Chub traps at a crick that runs through my son's property between Connie Lake & Linesville on way home tomorrow. Just cut the grass at camp so can try for Crawlers tonight. Raining again now. Plan to get out Friday with two of my sons (first time out for me all year) I Hope!!

Tim, You could go to the Erie cricks... With all the rain that has fallen the last few days, Lol!!

Don't know what my kid has planned but sure hope it's not for L/M, not up for cast after cast even though it's a good time doing so.
